Prince has died. R.I.P

Prince worked with Sheena Easton on She's Got The Look. It didn't work out after that. I don't think Prince ever had anything serious with Susanna Hoffs. It was implied that he was dating*Kim Bassinger while recording the Scandalous Suite , a spinoff from his Batman songs soundtrack. He was pretty good at presenting an illusion, both in public and in private.

 

Did prince remake "erotic city " or was it his from the start. Cause I believe George Clinton made it first

 

Well, Morris Day is under Prince's Paisley Park label when he was under contract to Warner Brothers music. I'm sure all whom he had worked with have heard this news, like saxophonist Eric Leeds, Jerome Benton, Jelly bean Benitez, Wendy Johnson, Lisa Melvoin, Tevin Campbell and many more.

 

Funkadelic's George Clinton. To My knowledge , Erotic City was always a Prince song. Maybe Clinton wrote it and Prince recorded it and used his trademark musical arrangements. If George Clinton recorded Erotic City, it probably didn't sound like Prince's song.

I wished that duet of Micheal and Prince singing Baby I'm A Star was recorded. The people had their money's worth when two of the greatest stars of Rock and R&B sing together. It's like the Beatles with the Stones singing Time Is On My Side. I wondered on Jerome Benton's reaction to Prince's death?

 

I had thought so about that, too after seeing Purpl Rain. My late older brother told me that they were too busy making music and money to have a rivalry.

 

When that duet happened, even back in 1984 no concert goers would've been able get video cameras in, if so they must've paid a fortune to get it. Video cameras were very expensive back then. And knowing Prince, he probably would allow MTV to videotape that concert(if Prince knew about MTV being there. Then again, he probably didn't want to see MTV's cameras during a concert because MTV covered concerts back then).

Mick Jagger was seen in the video for The Beatles songs Hey Jude( I think David Bowie was in the video, too). There was no animosity between The Rolling Stones, The Beatles or any of the British rock bands of the time.

Remember French singer Terence Trent D'Arby? He was pretty cool with that song Wishing Well. He tried to act like Prince in any ways with the wardrobe . But he seemed to be a predecessor to Lenny Kravitz .

 

A truer comment if there ever was one...

Interesting tidbit from it...

Film director Kevin Smith revealed that Prince once asked him the following question: ‘If a big snake gives birth to a little snake, what is that little snake going to grow up to be?’

‘A big snake?’ Smith answered, correctly.

Prince’s point?

‘You gotta know who your father is.’

I remember seeing actor comedian Robert Townsend's Partners In Crime show on HBO years ago. He did a sketch in which Michael Jackson and Prince were police detectives in a show called Rock Cops. It was so hysterical. Townsend played Michael and another actor played Prince.
