Hey guys, this is my first time on this site. I am an African-american with a caribbean origin who is attracted to white women. I have been accepted to a medical school in Poland. I see there are a few members here who have traveled/lived in Europe. Can anyone give me some first hand experience on the treatment of blacks in Poland? I've heard of Russia's reception and that makes me a little skeptical.
Well, volbrother, in the gangsta boarding schools of Nigeria I had a best pal...Nigerian name: Idorenyin (Polish name: Inek). He was a mixed guy. His Polish, blonde blue-eyed mom met his Nigerian dad while he was at school in Poland. Naturally, parents hated it...but after three kids (two girls and ID) and mom living in Nigeria with dad for more than 20 years...methinks all went well. ID went back to Poland for higher education as Nigeria is being a shithole. Anyhooooooooooo... So...there's hope volbrother. Just keep your head up and do the damn thang!
Hey Volbrother... I live in Europe for a long time and dated a Polish girl, met many polish ppl in general... They are really friendly once they know you well...so I dont know where u are going to live but if it`s in Warsaw, you will be fine as it is quite diverse and you will definitely find friendly ppl...and friendly girls! JUST, allow them some time to get to know you, they might seems a bit cold at first but be friendly and try to learn the language and use a few polish words as often as u can when u speak to ppl...u will win them that way. Don`t act like the American who speaks english only and expects everyone to speak it too, u see what I mean? Have fun it will be cool!!!
Thanks boardies, You guys have made me feel much better. I will certainly try to 'blend' into the Polish society. I am leaving for Poland in September. Thanks again guys. I am really excited now. This board is a plus. I'll keep in touch.
Im sure i do not need to reiterate all what these guys have said but the only thing i will say is that everything in life has its pros and cons. There are very many gorgeous women in Poland(in Europe to be honest) and the people are much more friendly than Americans to say the least, but it is no paradise as such in terms of racial tolerance. I mean, it does not measure up to America but by never by any means think otherwise. There are still blatant racist asswipes there but its about doing your own thing. Apart from that, you should be fine. I know lots of Polish-Americans as well as native Polish people and they are very nice. In my high school in NYC, there were a significant number of Polish kids. My father briefly worked in Poland in his time in Europe and knows many Polish people and they are as nice as it gets. If i remember correctly, a poll conducted in Holland sometime about 2 to 3 years ago stated that the Poles are the most friendly and warm Europeans, just ahead of the Dutch and behind the Dutch, the Swiss. So you see where i am going. They are great people if you really want to assimilate into their culture. One of my "fuck buddies"(i should not say this, yeah bite me  ) was a Polish-American and apart from the fact that she was a freaky goddess  8), she had one of the nicest personalities i had ever seen. Only reason why i did not date her was well........... i think we all know why. So you see, it would be a great experience when you assimilate into it.
I once dated a Polish woman years back and it was a good experience. Now I have some female polish friends whom are nice and friendly. Go for it.
Hi there, my 2 cents... be careful of the guys my personal experience is that they can be somewhat racist. That is how I felt they were in Germany and I definitely see it a lot now in Chicago. There are a lot of polish in Chicago (largest population outside of poland) and the guys at the office unfortunately don't hide their views in front of me. I don't know if it is because I am German and they can feel comfy with the "European thing" but I had to tell this one guy off who was being a total asshole. I am sure there will be very many friendly people, especially on campus. Good Luck
