hef is from a different era in american social politics and mental sub-culture altogether. people want to parallel it to pimping but i think that's an inexact understanding of the relationships exchanged with these personalities. it's like artisans from the days of beatniks and mods, with the notions of free love and experimentation... and he figured he'd make some cake off that mix. lol
