Planned Parenthood is America’s Biggest Abortion Business: Operates 45% of All Abortion Clinics by Steven Ertelt | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 1/28/15 12:26 PM ShareWomen’s health care. Reproductive health. These are the euphemisms Planned Parenthood uses to hide the fact that it is the biggest abortion business in the United States. At the end of last year, the abortion giant Planned Parenthood released its 2013 annual report and the new numbers indicated it did more abortions than the year before — killing 327,653 babies in abortions while taking in millions in taxpayer funds. The report indicates Planned Parenthood did 327,653 abortions in 2013, an increase over the 327,166 abortions it did in 2012. Those numbers put Planned Parenthood in the position of being America’s largest abortion business. American Life League’s STOPP International looked further into the numbers and found that Planned Parenthood now operates 668 centers in the United States, of which 337 do surgical abortions or sell the dangerous abortion pill mifepristone. All Planned Parenthood clinics do abortion referrals to centers in their network that do abortions. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion chain, operating 45.6 percent of all the surgical/medical abortion facilities. But ALL’ Jim Sedlak tells LifeNews that there is good news: because the pro-life majority in America continues to press against abortion and work to stop abortions and de-fund Planned Parenthood, the abortion corporation is closing more centers. “Once again, our annual survey of Planned Parenthood shows an organization in decline. The organization continues its downward spiral, with the number of centers well below its 1973 level,” he explained. During 2014, Planned Parenthood Federation of America continued to close “health centers” at a record rate. This year, it closed 34 centers in a total of 19 different states, he said. This year is the first time in 10 years that Planned Parenthood had fewer surgical abortion centers and fewer medical abortion centers and fewer total number of surgical/medical abortion centers. With the closing of its Rapid City, South Dakota, center in 2014, Planned Parenthood now has five states in which it operates only one center. The Planned Parenthood abortion business imposed an abortion mandate on its affiliates, that each has at least one center that takes the lives of unborn babies in abortions. Now, only two affiliates still operate outside of that mandate — Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma and Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan. While it remains America’s biggest abortion corporation, the “nonprofit” continued to make money — bringing in $305.4 million last year and $305.3 million this year. Planned Parenthood continued to receive over a half-billion dollars in taxpayer money, as it took in $540 million in 2012 and $528 million in 2013. Some other takeaways from Planned Parenthood’s own figures: •In 2013, abortions made up 94% of Planned Parenthood’s pregnancy services. •For every adoption referral, Planned Parenthood performed 174 abortions. •While abortions rose, Planned Parenthood adoption referrals dropped 14% in one year, and prenatal care services dropped 4%. •Planned Parenthood’s cancer prevention services are down 17% over one year, and contraceptive services dropped by 4%. •During fiscal year 2013-2014, Planned Parenthood received more than $528 million in taxpayer funding, or more than $1.4 million per day, in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements. •Taxpayer funding accounts for 41% of Planned Parenthood’s overall revenue. •Planned Parenthood reported more than $127 million in excess revenue, and more than $1.4 billion in net assets. ALL president Judie Brown stated, “Every day a Planned Parenthood closes is a good day for our nation. We still have a long way to go. We will not stop until every Planned Parenthood facility is closed.”
i thought non profit meant you could hardly keep your doors open without the help of federal tax dollars...they are making money on all those abortions... for the record i am prochoice however, i don't see this as non profit...what do you think?
this is where the goverment needs to cut spending on unneccessary programs...we need to get our priorities straight what are the top programs the goverment should support? 1. free lunch for kids that live below the poverty line 2. homeless shelters 3. food pantries (I actually think they should not give out food stamps but rather stock food pantries...that way we wouldn't have to regulate/police how that coupon is spent)
this is gonna be a great discussion alabama football ( the crimson tide)get 5 million in subsidies but we dont have money for education and food stamps
in this country we our riding on borrowed infrastructure...our roads...bridges...railways...etc are all in decay...it's like we have painted outselves into a corner with no where to go... yet our tax money is funding planned parenthood...i think they should get their money from the private sector that supports prochoice...after these figures were released i don't actually think they need more money they just need to operate on their own cash flow.
im not well educayed on planned parenthood and its funding and what is spent on what but i agree with u in that be have our priorities all messed up. it really shows in how we spend our money.
All non profits have to be transparent in their earnings...so if you read the article not only does PP get funding from the federal tax program but they also turned a profit... Tax payers need to know where their money is going...this is is not a situation where they are in need...other programs with less controversy should be getting this money
Anyone who thinks PP is anything but an abortion clinic (regardless of the bs the co spews) is severely naive. PP is, and always has been, good for just one thing...terminating unwanted pregnancies. PP cares only about turning a profit, they've cut anesthesia services and now do all terminations (up to 24 weeks in the state of CA) under local. Who cares how terribly painful that is for the patient, right? They save the cost of a CRNA and the potential liability of offering general anesthesia services. They don't care about their patients nor do they really care to try and ensure their patients aren't frequent flyers for D&C/D&E services by counseling properly on BC. Very one sided business. I wouldn't send even an enemy there. The fact that they're non profit, yet turning a profit is no surprise. Many not for profit companies actually make money each year. I worked for one for 13 years and trust me, we were very much trying to turn a profit, while maximizing our tax breaks. PP gets a shit ton of government dollars and absorbs all their profit right back into the org. It is what it is. They're just shady when it comes to good pt care, that's ultimately what rubs me wrong with regard to them and their practice.
People taking responsibility......in America.......where laws have to be created to prevent restaurants from selling you super sized sugary drinks Sure pal, whatever u say
They should be teaching prevention in addition to the terminations. Maybe it's different outside Southern California but PP here is an abortion mill. Very little gyn. I actually end up stealing a good portion of their patients and thankfully so. I counsel them on long term birth control options, STI protection, the importance of regular women's health visits, etc. Dealing with a woman who's terminating involves much more than the actual procedure or pill imo. PP doesn't seem to care about all that though. JMO.
The NFL legally is a non-profit entity. Since apparently this is your first visit to the planet, welcome to the REAL WORLD. You're prochoice??? Riiiiiiiggghhhhtt. I can't wait to see you antiabortionists wave that same crazy flag for the millions of kids who will be entering foster care in your brave new world and encouraging American families to adopt babies they didn't want in the first place. We should be encouraging women to have abortions sooner IMO if they feel they don't want to carry the baby to term. Personally I think it should be a 4-6 week decision for a woman.
You can always turn an abortion into a work of art or a big ass oil canvas. It's still a necessity in this day and age. Shady or not, Planned Parenthood has been doing it's job quite well, despite some setbacks. Shame....if I opted for the medical field, I'd be glad to do abortion services for a small fee myself.
I am prochoice as well as a tax payer...I pay way too much in taxes (my opinion) I don't want my money spent there...
Everyone's running around with A level pullout game with F level results To be honest tho y'all need to stop lyin about bein on the pill
