The Detroit Pistons announced Friday that Dennis Rodman will have his number retired by the team, a fitting tribute to a player who absolutely dominated both the rebounding glass and defensive end from 1986-1993. Rodman was an integral part of two Pistons championships in 1989 and '90, and there's no doubt that this honor will go a long way toward setting up a more mainstream validation of D-Rod's career. Props to Dennis. Great rebounder and defender, at 6'8 he even outrebound shaq. All heart !
It's a shame that Rodman's amazing defensive prowess on the court was overshadowed by his many actions off the court. He was also sort of an unsung hero behind the Bulls last three rings in the 90’s. I’m glad he’s finally getting his due.
I read about this earlier, the fucked up thing is he might not even make it to the hall of fame because of his "image"... Dennis was the shit, major props go out to him.
Word is born, I agree with all three statements 100% I'll never forget running ball on NBA Live 95 (predecessor to whatever EA sports calls their basketball games now and successor to the great NBA Showdown games of the earlier 90s). I used to wreck shop with the Spurs teams of those days, and there was this crazy white haired nut who was all over the court in terms of speed and defensive prowess, though you wouldn't dare trying to shoot anything over a 10 footer with said player. Don't ever forget those days with the "other" D Rod, otherwise known as Mr. Robinson...
