Dr. David McKalip, a health care reform opponent and neurosurgeon forwarded this picture on Sunday night.

Dr. David McKalip forwarded to fellow members of a Google listserv affiliated with the Tea Party movement the image below. Above it, he wrote: "Funny stuff. McKalip is also a Delegate to the American Medical Association.

Typical republicans spreading hate and negativity with no real answers or solutions for healthcare or anything for that matter. The GOP is doing to hell in a handbasket, they are now the party of hatred.

Isn't it ASTONISHING how all of this hatred and paranoia is bubbling up to the surface? So much stupidity and fear. It was ALWAYS there, see ... only now it comes to light. And in a way, that's good. We can see it for what it is.

Like G. Gordon Liddy (criminal and nutjob) on Hardball today talking about how Obama isn't a citizen, because he (Liddy) hasn't personally seen the ORIGINAL birth certificate ... which of course has been authenticated a zillion times by the State of Hawaii and vouched for by the governor and verified in numerous ways. There will never be enough proofs for the paranoid birther conspiracy theorists (and sore losers) among the Republican hardcore right. They HAVE to focus on this stuff because their minds just cannot GRASP that we have moved on ... they are of the past, a dying breed. And on some level they know it, so ... this. And worse.

I pray for Obama's health and safety every day, in the midst of such ugliness. He has tremendous courage. Even his opponents must give him that.

Nice generalization. Now maybe Obama can go get him some Popeyes fried chicken with some orange drink.

    lol

    i'm partial to lemonade myself

as for the image...I think by now, people (especially white people) should know NOT to use imagery which associates Obama with a negatively enforced stereotype, related to african-americans...

making fun of politicians is typical...and expected...but this..this will only get Obama re-elected for a second-term, as people band together to fight racism.

Even though I started this thread, now that I think about it, I don't really know if this is news. Mainly, because there will always be racist people spreading hate and racist images of Obama. These people DO NOT deserve 15min of fame in the spotlight, are we gonna profile every idiot in the media who does something similar to this? Even though I despise Bush with a passion, there was never an outcry when he was made fun of even though most of it wasn't racial. I'm just kinda tired of the media jumping on this type of foolishness just to have a story, because at the end of the day, these types of things are never gonna go away.

I disagree. This is news, because of the racial context. It does NOT compare to the images of Bush as Alfred E. Newman, for example because that was personal, directed at an individual, not at an entire racial group. AND because this was distributed not by some dumb redneck, but by a supposedly educated person of stature in the community. It is news to call to our attention how racial stereotyping is so pervasive in our society, even at supposedly "higher" levels.

It's like one of the commentators said today: whenever someone says, it's not about the money, it's about the money. And whenever they say, it's not about race, it's about race.

what is funny they can jump on President Obama on the word " stupidity " but the watermelon picture by a mayor and the pictures of all the presidents with obama is pretty much ignored by FAUX news.

You do have a point, but my thing is, what really can be done about people (redneck or elite) emailing racist images? Sure we could expose him and make his racist actions known to the community, but then what? Its not like he's gonna loose his job. And I find it hard to believe that average Americans (especially minorities) would have trouble believing that someone of stature in the community ie lawyers doctors etc couldn't harbour racist views.
