Yo, this shit totally took a dig at black women's perception of black men checking out/dating white women. I know people in advertising and they were impressed that a company was able to even sell this idea to Pepsi. Honestly, I didn't even need to state it. I'm impressed they even went there, I was seriously in shock. That shit was BLATANT!!!!
    Check it out for yourselves.

Go read the thread. I don't think any of us found it to be that big of a deal.

Well let me put it this way: I'd like someone on these forums in the Advertising Business to lay some perspective. You will realize that when it comes to that business, it's very much a white society.

It's not completely realistic, but have you ever seen Mad Men. The people on Madison Avenue intentionally choose to cast the two main roles in that commercial to be African American. Why did the runner have to be white??? There was a MESSAGE there, and you had to be aware of it to catch it....

I view it more as something that demonizes black women while emasculating black men.

The white woman is pretty and reflective of the warm and sunny environment of the park, while the sister sits there cold and serpentine awaiting the next opportunity to berate or assault her man. His opportunity for escape is destroyed when the black bitch flings her can of Pepsi . . .

All very rich in manipulative subtext.

If you get the message of the commercial the wife/girl-friend is trying to get her husband/boy-friend to eat healthy food.

    That's how I seen it.

I don't think it's doing anyone any favours TBH, but I did laugh when Blondie got hit with the can. :D

I'm sure if we all think on it hard enough, there are more important things to boycott and petition against...
