Surveillance footage showing a baby girl left on the street to die after two cars plow over her sparks a fierce reaction in China.

The first driver who runs her over sees her and decides to plow into her, anyway (see, she's in his way). She's nothing more than a speed bump to him, frankly.

All the passerby's indifference is sickening. Are they not human??

Fucking disgusting. I hope each one of those passer-bys gets hit by a car. It's not like they were stepping in the middle of some street fight.

I couldn't bring myself to even open the video after reading the article. I'm appalled.

    :(

That's pretty common in China, no matter the age or gender...

The life of a girl child in China has very little value. Very sad yet very true.

I wondered the same when I first saw it and it is a girl. They have it on Huffpost and said she is in very serious condition with a head injury and not expected to live. They also cite a 2006 judgement against a good Samaritan who tried to help someone and was sued as changing people from trying to intervene. I think we should be grateful we have the law here that allows lay people to try to do what they can in emergency situations. :(

Unless you work for Time Warner companies. There, you're told to go back to your desk and answer calls while your co-worker dies. :(

I expect a lawsuit over that. Time Warner offers a CPR class and then one of their employees wants to use it to save another employee. There was clearly a lack of intelligence by the two supervisors who said you can be sued for helping. :(

China: "With it's 1.2 billion population, never call any act a murder. Rather, it's a post-birth abortion."

Or what passes for "people", anyway.

I read that too, Jordan...but the way they behaved - the indifference, there was no "fear of intervening" on their faces. No one even bothered to stop and look, let alone help. It was like she was piece of garbage...until that vagabond lady who compassionately moved her came along, lawsuit be damned. :-(

I saw this come up on my news feed from someone else on Facebook.

I just read what the details were, I didn't want to press "play" because I can't fathom having images of that scene engraved in my head.
