Otto Porter & Jaclyn Humphry

Former Wizards and now Bulls starter (NBA) Porter and his gal Jacklyn Humphry. He's 25 from Missouri and she's 23 from Oregon.

 

She's a smart, educated woman who spent a year studying in Spain after graduating college in the USA. She works for NBC Sports and has been rising relatively quickly.

Otto also just signed a max NBA contract for $100+ million guaranteed a couple years ago. If she's the one, I hope it's true love.

I love when people make such remarks about non-black women hookin up with rich black male athletes but don't think its a legit charge to level at black women who hook up with those types of black dudes. I mean are you saying black chicks aren't getting quickly pregnant as much if not more than any other female demographic when pairing up with well financed athletes?

And for your information the two of them have been low key dating for almost a year and share an apartment even though she works on the west coast and he has been working on the east and now the midwest. They are going out of their way to make it work. She sure seems to suggest it is the real thing base on an Instagram comment that she didn't think such a love was ever possible (paraphrasing). And she isn't some chick , regardless of race, who has been "making a living" wearing next to nothing on Instagram. Those are the women pro athletes have to worry about because their main job seem to be finding a rich man. This Jacklyn lady is a grad student who is working for a high profile company. It's nice I'm sure to have a rich boyfriend but I'm sure she was making a legit living before they hooked up and I'm damn sure at 23 she not only has a lot of options but a lot of time on her side.

 

I'm not in favor of rich young athletes maintaining serious relationships or marriage until after they retire. No matter what a young woman says, a big part of the attraction to a rich pro athlete is that they're a RICH PRO ATHLETE, so it can be hard to really know where someone is coming from.

My gut is these chicks target rich pro athletes. I bet the first time he met her, she went home and googled his stats and salary. That's when he became an interesting guy to potentially date.lol

When pro athletes date other celebs, I feel like the relationship is more on the same level and no one is trying to scheme on the other.

As much money as Otto has, this girl might as well be working at 7-11. But like you said, they're just dating.

 

That's not even mostly realistic. Only a handful of dudes would do such a thing for reasons that may vary. One could argue the best thing any young man can do to cement himself as a mature individual is to drop all the random dating, pull up roots, get married, have kids. But of course that won't work for a lot of guys either because many of them are far too immature, want to fuck anything they see and don't have the ability to figure out which chicks are legit and which are vultures or at least unworthy of serious attention. Everybody is different, everyone has rates of maturity that are unique. Yeah, I would caution any young person , regardless of how much they make, to not jump into marriage or any serious relationship too quickly. But some people can handle it. And some are lucky to find that perfect life mate early on and are smart to not let that opportunity pass itself up.

Women have "targeted" successful men since the beginning of time. This has been acceptable in virtually every culture. Yet you act as if the ladies who hook up with pro athletes are a particularly treacherous and scheming bunch? You come up with some interesting speculation of how this Jacklyn girl reacted when she first came into Otto's orbit. She is a person who works for NBC Sports West and grew up a huge basketball fan and Blazers fan because she was raised in Oregon. You don't think she already knew what Otto Porter was making? And seriously any true thot who was pursuing an NBA baller who starts for his team wouldn't have to bother looking up anything. They know those mutherfuckers are richer than any other dudes they come across.

Don't necessarily disagree but the second best option, if they don't find the perfect celebrity love, is to come into contact with women who actually went to school, have professional ambitions and have employment that came as a result of that ambition and schooling. Not some video ho or some chick on Instagram who is a model wannabe. And I'm gonna guess the hookup that came to be between the two is a result of the proximity of their worlds and the attraction that followed.

Only thing is young gals who actually work at a 7-11 can't afford rent and didn't get a degree from college. They surely don't have the luxury of being able to spend a year abroad doing further studying. Otto grew up in a very small town in Missouri. If he had married some sweetheart from that small town that would be cool. But instead he is dating a woman who is of a higher economic, educational and social status than probably any gal from his neck of the woods. If Jaclyn was from such modest economic means there is a greater probability she would have gotten knocked up already considering this relationship is almost a year old. But real, young, career women who hook up with ballers tend to not pop out babies at the drop of a hat. She may not be worth $100 million like him (good luck with him finding a young, attractive female celeb making that money), but stop acting as if he is slumming by being in a relationship with her.

 

The problem lies in the fact that some of the most sought after women are hypergamous in nature...meaning they want to find the richest man of the highest status possible. @andreboba A women could be worth tens of millions or even hundreds of millions, but even that wont make their hypergamy-sickness go away (see Mariah Carey, Rhiana, Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross).

I'm just a Hoya fan and Otto is one of the greatest Hoyas. I would have never learned of him dating a white chick if I hadn't been stumbling around Twitter trying to see how he was adjusting to Chicago. That said I would defend any black male athlete if he was getting the type of pushback and speculation over his relationship that andreboba was dishing out. Enough of that bullshit. Sometimes I think black men have the worst opinions of themselves when they suggest such-and-such women would never go for another black man if he didn't have money. You think white dudes would ever say that about a white guy who is young, athletic, fairly attractive and much taller than the average man? Hell, no. White guys would probably think any woman would be lucky to get such a white guy even if he was making less than six figures.
