I am from Chicago and in my opinion it's hard as hell to date interacially here, so I am thinking about moving, any suggestions or should I stay here?
Ha welcome fellow Chicagoan. You know I thought the same about Chicago, the neighbourhoods are so separated. Trixies here, artists there, blacks over there and so on. But recently I've noticed more and more IR couples, it really jumps out at me.
Like I just moved back to the burbs but I use to live in Lakeview and the Gold Coast and I could never get a date. Where do you live?
I live in Lincoln Square. The thing that bugs me is that most places I hang out at are mainly white but now and then a handsome BM finds his way there  I don't like all black clubs or bars, not my scene anymore and it goes back to what I said earlier Chicago is definitely very separated regarding where people live and hang out. Wicker Park is definitely cool and more diverse
See I like both scenes, the all black clubs and the all white dive bars(lol) but it's harder for me to pick up a white women in Chicago(even on the EL) then it was for me back in college in KY.
Well the EL I don't know, I guess you would need a really good approach to make it there... lol, just to many distractions and people really into their Ipods, phones and books  I think college is always easier by comparison, I remember when I was younger it was soooo easy flirting and what not. I honestly don't think any US city makes a big difference, unless someone here can give hard facts (percentage of IR marriages per capita) I would say any big US city is probably about the same. Now small town US should be different as "old ways" might still be more around but in general I think Chicago, New York or Atlanta, should not make a huge difference if you have the right approach for the type of woman you are going after.
DON'T DO THE CLUBS OR BARS. Try out the local gym, the lake front for a walk on the beach, the local park to go for a walk in the park, the grocery store, public events where a diverse group will be, begin with making a diverse set of friends and go from there--you can hook up through friends, at house parties, dinner parties, weddings, baby showers, barbeques, pool parites and etc... Also, if you are into the church seen--go to a church that is diverse. Join a book club, go to an enrichment class to learn ceramics, photography, cooking techniques--where the women go. Just a few suggestions. But please, please, the last place you want to go is the CLUB or BAR--HOOK-UP HEAVEN AND NOTHING SUBSTANIAL. Peace.
I don't live in Chicago. I have rolled through before. But I have never relied on the clubs or bars to meet men. This advice is universal and pretty much works anywhere. I have always meet people who I was interested in outside of the bar and club not in one, with a few exceptions. I have lived in over three states and it never fails meeting quality men outside of the club or bar scene. For example, most men I have dated I meet at the mall, college campus, my apartment building, washing my own car at the car wash (MEN HEAVEN)!! Standing in line at the post office buying stamps and letters  , through friends and associates, walking on the beach, at the movie theatre , on the public transit system, my local YMCA, public events like JAZZ in the Park in Milwaukee and the list goes on. You just have to be confident, bold, and get use to a lot of no's before the yes's. In other words, there are so many ways to meet a woman besides the club and the bar scene, which I personally view as nothing more than places that are "meat markets". Peace.
Chicago is a very segregated city - if you pay a visit, you might think you've wounded up in the 1950s South, only without the "No Coloreds" signs. Blacks and whites do not even interact together at all and it's a shame because it's such a diverse city. I might be slightly exaggerating here but i think it's easier for a brotha in Chicago to date other non-black women than white women. Anyway, i suggest visiting places like the Hyde Park area. Places like Woodlawn and Washington Park are very diverse. West Town seems nice too as does Jefferson Park. To be honest, you might need to take a whole tour of Chicago (like i did) to find the nice spots. Until then, it's gonna seem hard.
ChiCity I've been in Chicago for a bit over 5 years. First in the suburbs (which I consider the BIGGEST mistake as far as moving around ever) and then the city. Why did you move to the burbs?? Are you trying to kill your social life  And yes I completely agree with Laydeezman, Chicago is very segregated. I moved here from Atlanta and oh boy can you say CULTURE SHOCK. But again, once you discover the city and the neighbourhoods you find whatever suits your taste. Again lately I have seen more IR couples than ever before, that is at the Lakefront, Uptown, Wicker Park, Lakeview it doesn't matter.
Whoa People calm down.... To Chigirl, Honestly it's cheaper for me to live in the south burbs(I grew up out here)until the real estate market in the city comes down alittle. I should post another thread because I wanna know what chi girl looks like...lol
Yes it can get a bit $$ here and Lakeview and Gold Coast are definitely areas I am not touching (who in their right mind pays 180 bucks for a parking space???) lol. I'd rather wallpaper my walls with the money. A friend of mine bought 5 parking spaces in the high rise building he lives in and rents them out. Easiest money ever, no complaining tennants, nothing to fix, it's definitely easier than renting out an apartment
Chitown has almost everything. However, I will never set foot in Cicero inspite of its change. Martin King went there in 66 and said that place and other is like Mississippi.
Chi Girl, I was paying 500 per month on the gold coast, the sad part is I want to move back to the gold coast but paying 500k+ for a one bedroom is nuts. So how can we see a pic of you? 8)
There is just ONE thing I think is missing in Chicago... quick access to other cities. I was in Baltimore and DC this weekend and I love the fact that you can just hop in your car and hit all these cities or even jump on a train to New York. Other than that Chitown is simply amazing, it still takes my breath away every time I look at the skyline or stroll through the city or neighbourhoods. A picture of me??? Since I don't know how to post them here anymore I will see if I can upload one on Kodak and post the link here. How about you, can we see your face? The ladies here are very much into oogling over the male members as well LOL... come to think of it what a shame that the pic thread was deleted...
You can actually, like STL, Mn and Mil arent that far away. I go to Memphis(around 9 hr drive) and Cincy(about 3 or 4 hours) so its alot of cities with in driving distance if you want to drive. how about this, do you want to send it to my email? this way we ain't putting our business out there.... my email is... moneyisamajorissuesince1982@gmail.com
