Herman Rosenblat's Holocaust memoir of love is exposed as a hoax http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article5409220.ece
Oh well, that will be a lesson learned, im sure next time her researchers will actually do! some research, I sort of can't be angry at the old man, just trying to make a little money from an otherwise unfortunate exsperience, im sure there will be some who are outraged, but i personally don't cuss him for trying to lighten up his old age
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Oprah's BEEN bought and sold. Ever since her show went syndicated resulting in her enormous wealth, she's had to cater to rinky dink topics ever since. She can't really do women's issues that often as it would affect ratings. Remember, this is the same show that had on the pregnant man. And it won't be the last time this sort of thing happens either. That's why I try to avoid her show altogether.
Oprah's show would be a lot more useful and watchable if she just sticks discussing about serious issues like racism, not stupid makeovers and other crap like her worthless book club.
It's not her fault as she is not responsible for determining the veracity of a book's claims, that is the job of the publisher.
No, but it IS her show. And as a producer, she has the power to decide what topics they will take on and which ones they won't. TV is about RATINGS, good or bad. Ironically, this might actually help O's ratings in a weird sort of way.
It is on O since she puts herself out there like she does. She has millions who hang on her every word and buy eevrything she recommends. I never cared for her book selections because she NEVER chose a book by a black male except for one time when she selected "A Lesson Before Dying" which was already like ten years old when it came out (therefore she wasn't helping some upcoming black male make a name for himself). Been keeping up with the book industry forever and over the last 12 or so years the new, surprising, talented, lauded black authors that have popped up in the diaspora across the globe have been mostly male. But none were ever picked by Ms O. Hey, its her right but it was also my right to ignore her suggestions as a result of this snubbing. By the way how typical of Hollywood to be so eager to make another Holocaust film. Holywod won't touch slavery or the civil rights movement whe it comes to making movies but they jump at a chance to make Holocaust pictures. Hollywood has no problem repeatedly pointing out the obvious: the Nazis were evil scumbags. But when Hollywood does Civil War films it goes out of its way to give us nice, three-dimensional Southerners fighting for the cause.
I know. Isn't it ironic that the running racism was that Jews ran Hollywood and that there was this underground zionist conspiracy? But the truth is the truth. There are plenty of jewish producers and directors who are able to greenlight whatever projects they wish. And yes, although it's what they know, the holocaust is usually done. They shy away from slavery and civil rights issues because then that would portray whites in a poor light. And we can't just have that. And oh yeah, those civil war-period pieces are just hilarious. Portraying fine upstanding white southern 'gentleman' and white southern belle women as proper all the while showing their true colors on where blacks belong - cleaning their kitchen. You'd swear this was one of the most wonderful places in American history to live and raise a family. Hollywood just sickens me sometimes. The only way for blacks to be really represented is for more black studios to pop up.
Oprah is no sucker and no dummy, she knows exactly what she is doing fraud or nay. On the male author aspect, she is a businesswoman first and a black woman second. Her target market by a vast majority is stay at home women and her brand is about empowerment of women, so to market female novels makes perfect sense.
I wonder how Hollywood would react if a movie was done depicting Middle East terrorists as Southern (Asian, of course) gentleman that "protected" their women and honorably defended themselves from the terrible Yankees? I was thinking of 'Gone with the Hookah' or 'Birth of a Jihad' and the main characters would not be Rhett and Scarlett but rather Ramzi and Syed.
