Ive heard that type of stuff happening all over, not just in the south

Black dude messes with white girl

her racist parents find out about it

threaten to disown her, throw her out of the house etc if she dosent lie to the cops and tell them that he raped her...
Black dude gets sent to jail.

It wasn't directed at you...all I'm saying is that racism is not unique to the South..it exists in different forms all across the U.S. Whites in the South often take a lot of s*** (sometimes it's deserved...sometimes it's not) for being racist while Northern whites get a free pass more or less.

    Hey GirlieG,

I am so sorry you are having such a rough time. Your grandmother passing must have been terrible and then to have that followed by your ex. You said how touched you were by the people who came to your grandmothers funeral, so use that when you go to your ex's. Death has a way of putting things into perspective. It speaks volumes about the person he was that after all these years you still care enough to pay your respects. If he were my son I would be proud of him and the impact that he had on the lives of those who knew him.

You are welcome Girlygirl74. You can e-mail me if you like. It is sad that there are some racist cowards on the web that cause a lot of shyt.

Malikom, it's just a shame that it happens anywhere. The white girl in my post did finally come to her senses and went to the police and told them that she lied. He was released, and she ended up doing time for perjury and filing a false complaint. Even though she righted the wrong, it will never make up for what he and his family went through during that time and for the month that he spent in prison.

ChosenOne, I appreciate you posting and I agree with your statement. I just wish that you wouldn't have been able to find any stories supporting my statement that racism is everywhere. I like to be right, but this is one time that I would have been glad to have been proven wrong.

Thanks, vanilla2chai. My grandmother's passing was a blessing. She was in a lot of pain and was asking us to pray that the Lord took her quickly. It's never easy but it helps knowing that she is no longer hurting. My ex's passing was just a shock. Even though I wasn't in love with him anymore, he still had a place in my heart, and I didn't want to see anything bad happen to him.

I just want to tell everyone thanks for sharing your opinions with me. I wanted to let everyone know what ended up happening. (I always wonder what people end up doing after they ask for advice so here it is.) Last night, I made plans to meet my friend so that we could go to the funeral together today. One of my clients had a board meeting that I had to attend at 9 this morning, and I'm normally out by lunch time. The meeting lasted until 3:30 this afternoon. The funeral was at 1. When we took a lunch break, I called my friend and told him what happened and asked him to send my regards to the cousins that we used to spend time with when we were together. I plan to send cards to them tonight. I wish that I could have gone to say goodbye, but I know that he knows I was there in spirit.

Thanks for the update. It's a shame you couldn't have gone. I'm sure the family would have appreciated it. But, at least they'll know you were thinking about him and would have come, were you able.

I'm not too worried about it. I just don't like being bothered by negativity. It just upsets me. I'll be looking for your email.
