I wouldn't message a chick with shitty punctuation or so many grammatical errors. I'm too picky.

Lol I'm quite funny about grammar and spelling. My man texts me ''your'' instead of ''you're'' all the time, and it actually makes me a little crazy haha. I've had to learn to let it go!

Let me start by saying this is not meant to say anything about your mans intelligence.

Intelligence is very attractive to me. There is no bigger turnoff than 'r u going 2 da store' or 'where r u'? My grammar is by no means without flaw and I do not expect hers to be perfect either. It would be nice to know that she put forth a little effort into communicating above a 4th grade level.

oh absolutely, no I know. I have a friend in her twenties that I used to work with, and she sends me texts occasionally. We used to work together in a kitchen, and I was telling her about my new job, and this is one of the texts she sent me - ''dats gud atleast u ain stuk in a frigging kitchen all tym lol'', and thats one of the better ones!
I just have to close my eyes and count to ten hahaha. Thank god we don't talk very often!

I don't really know what it is, I mean this is a sweeping statement of course, but men aren't usually so hot with spelling and stuff like that. Not usually anything to do with intelligence, its just something I have noticed over the years. Of course thats not true in all cases, just like its not true that all women are crap at parking a car haha.

Something I myself do though, especially when I'm on my phone, is miss out punctuation a lot of the time, just to save time really. Like I will say ''theyre'' instead of ''they're''. I mean, I am usually talking to my man, and he wouldn't notice anyway lol. That's just laziness though, I am always aware I have done it. Or I will type a little ''i'' instead of ''I''. Again, just saving a bit of time, because for punctuation marks and capitals, I have to press a whole other button :p. Yeah, it saves me maybe two seconds!

this is one of my pet peeves...I am also a bit of a snob when it comes to pronunciation of words...I will not date someone that says AXE instead of ASK...I have probably missed out on some really great men...for me it is like nails on the chalkboard...I just can't do it:smt069

    This.

My sister is notorious for texting like your young friend. Bugs the hell out of me, and I call her on it every time. She swears it saves her time, and she hates spelling/grammar anyways, but she's WAY too smart to look so dumb. Honestly, it probably took just as much time for your friend to text that ridiculous sentence, as it would have for her to use actual English lol. Terrible texting like that may not always speak to a persons intelligence, but it certainly speaks to their effort!

For the record Miss Suzie...I love reading your posts here. You always make me chuckle, and I so appreciate that breath of fresh air :freehug:

oh yay! Well thank you :smt053, its nice that you say that, and much appreciated today especially hehe xxx

and yes, well, I don't know just how smart this girl is, but I totally agree that sometimes they change a word for ''text speak'', which as I am given to understand, is to shorten the word usually? But a lot of the time they fanny around with the word so much, its pretty much the same length, and I'm thinking ''what's the fricking point??''
    Ahhhh kids......such a wonderful new breed :p

It takes me more time thinking about the abbreviated spelling than it would to just spell the full word.

Unfortunately for me, when on a dating website it's more often that I get the 'how u doing boo' 'dats wassup' types.

I think waaaay too much sometimes when I'm texting. I'm like ''shall I type the whole thing, or miss out the apostrophe, or type in the apostrophe.....'' God seriously, how I get anything else done sometimes is a miracle!

I can let some things go, but when they completely change a word, rather than just miss something out by mistake, thats when I get a little annoyed :p.

Its funny because I was talking to my man last night, and I could've slapped him haha. He mentioned about when I type ''youre'', instead of ''you're'' (I was secretly amazed he'd even noticed!), so I told him why, and he was like ''so why don't you just say ''your'', and I just had to quieten myself a second and say, as politely as I could ''BECAUSE ITS A WHOLE DIFFERENT WORD!!!!'' haha.
He just laughed and said he had more important things to worry about, and of course it's not the end of the world, lol, but just one of my little things. ...I have a few :?
So yeah, I think I have some double standards, its maybe like I'm saying ''so I'm missing out the apostrophe, but I'm AWARE I'm doing it, so thats ok!!'' haha.
