Is anyone here surprised by the Democratic race with the recent back and forth of race versus sex? Does anyone feel as if this has open the closet door on the overall societal relationship between white women and black men or would you say it's more of the media making news and not reporting news? No matter what the outcome this is history making but could a failure of TRUE race and sex relationships cause a riff between us and set off a new round of “us versus them” cold wars? South Africa and England did what we seem too "divided" to do.
I feel it could be a Pandora's box on one hand or a huge step forward on the other. Obama's not being a "proper" African American divorces him from Historical connotations and makes him "safer". I think America's Experiment could actually get into the laboratory for at least one term. My fear is that whatever Obama does wrong will be wrong simply coz he is black. And all leaders make mistakes. Even if he makes fewer than Bush did they will be taken as more. He has one heck of a tall order on his shoulders.
This reminds me of a movie I saw the other night on satellite TV...it was called 'Undisputed'....and it starred Ving Rhames and Wesely Snipes......it was about two men...one a famous heavyweight champion boxer (Rhames) being sent to jail where he eventually fights the man considered the best prison boxer (Snipes). BM and WW are the two biggest people in a school and everyone expects them to fight....people run back and forth telling the two giants that the other person said something negative about them....the BM and WW don't know what was really said...but they have to defend their reputation. They get out to the courtyard to size up the competition and end being impressed....but not convinced they will lose. 1 of 3 things usually happens in this situation: 1) They realize they like each other and don't fight...becoming good allies 2) They fight a bloody battle and one reigns supreme as the king (or queen) of the hill 3) They huff and puff but nothing happens....and the question is planted in people's minds....who would have won? Each side maintains their image with no damage done....but with the rivalry still intact. SO HERE'S THE QUESTION...(gee I sound like Jack Cafferty) : Which of the three scenarios is most likely to happen between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton....and what kind of impact will it have on the relationship between BM and WW?
