Smooth Daddy isn't going to like this...lol http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i2c5aa2b5f24b2a9bd2d741f99bac4d48 EXCLUSIVE: Old Spice Guy confirms lead role in Tyler Perry movie Old Spice Guy a.k.a Isaiah Mustafa has nabbed his first lead role in the latest installment of Tyler Perry's "Madea" franchise, "Madea's Big Happy Family," he told THR exclusively. "I got a call from my manager a week and a half ago who told me that I would be in 'Madea's Big Happy Family,'" Mustafa said. "It was confirmed last Monday, and I left on Friday to begin filming." Alongside stars Loretta Devine (as his mother-in-law) and Bow Wow (as his brother-in-law), the man branded as the Old Spice Guy plays Calvin, who is struggling with his marriage and family relationships. It has not been announced who will play his opposite. Mustafa bowed out of Tyler Perry's film "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf" in exchange for "Madea." He is unclear why the switch was made but remains grateful for the opportunity. "I don't know why Mr. Perry made the swap," said Mustafa, who was not contracted to "Colored Girls." "I didn't ask him his reasoning. I'm just really happy to have gotten this role. It's one of the leads, where in 'Colored Girls,' I would have been just been in one or two scenes." Filming began this week in Atlanta. Mustafa is on location through early September, when it is slated to wrap. EXCLUSIVE: Old Spice Guy confirms lead role in Tyler Perry movie Isaiah Mustafa talks to THR about casting swap By Leslie Bruce
when ur trying to get some checks, it doesnt matter what movie ur playing in... once you get the fame and fortune, then you can come out and say what you truly feel about those movies... kinda like Shea LeBouf and Transformers. He waited until after he got his fame and $$$$$$, before going around saying negative things about it. if they offered Smooth a few million to lead in a 'Mammy' movie, i bet he'd do it
Cool, but I wonder what Mr. Mustafa had to do in order to get the lead part in Perry's movie? Hmmm...
Perry is a (closeted) gay hack who just loves his good-looking black men. He can't write or direct for shit and its a shame that he is the filmmaker we African Americans support the most. And to be frank I lose respect for any black actors who appear in his God awful films. Oh, and just wait to the black women on certain black websites realize that Mustafa is married to a white woman. Their insufferable bitching will know no end. They will be upset with Perry for even casting him. I recall when one wrote about her displeasure when Perry cast Derek Luke as a lead. Derek Luke is married to a non-white (and non-black) Hispanic and anyone who knows of the hard times those two had to go through when they first got together could not be unimpressed in how they manage to make better lives for themselves. But that didn't stop one black lady for posting that Luke disrespected his mother because he didn't marry a black woman.
LOL, IB you're so sweet to think of me. Maybe he'll wise up and see that Tyler Perry isn't the way to go. Fuck You! LOL :smt043. Smooth doesn't do coonery or negro spirituals...no matter how much they pay. TP just plays to those poor, pitiful, stupid women just like Steve Harvey and DL King. He's just a pimp who's also a modern day overseer. His films are throwbacks to the 1930s. I understand many black actors may feel they have no other outlet than to go the TP route. Just a poor judgement call. Michael Jai White, I still have hopes for as he's the only one right now reppin' the Black Action Hero...
Lol as for black directors, I do like spike lee films. He won't get as many oscars as speilberg, but most of his films are enjoyable. I still appreciate movies like miracle at st Anna and summer of Sam.
Hands down, Spike Lee is my favorite black director. All of his films are quality. John Singleton was also a favorite of mine, until he dissapeared. I despise Tyler Perry and he just bugs the f*ck out of me. I can't stand watching ANY of his movies.
yeah john singleton fell off the scene, but Boyz in the Hood was a powerful movie, especially growing up as a young black teen while viewing it.
