Hmmm... well, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I, personally, do not know enough about Italian culture to make that judgment.

It's not much to learn..they came here as immigrants..got shit on..now they're just as racist as the groups that shitted on them.

Actually that niggers of Europe shit was about the Irish kid. I have to agree though, living here in NY the Italians are definitely our kkk up here. Its like they are so afraid that attention will be put on them that they go extra hard hating black people especially the men. Not all of course but the ones that do hate us..... all I can say is Bill Duke could learn a thing or two from them.

Even more so in my opinion. There's something extra special about a group who exacts the same kind of hate that they recently experienced.

A lot of people don't know that the Irish..Jews..and Italians were not considered white.

They were seen as filthy immigrants that bred like rabbits.

I would say she is in a tight spot because she is living with her parents and probably are dependent on them. On your part, do you think you are serious about her to want her to put her relationship with her parents on the line. If you are not serious, explain your situation to her and then walk.

I remember the day I wanted to bring my boyfriend to my parents house.
My father did not allow him to come inside and they aks me if I am crazy now and tell me not to meet him again.

I just tell my boyfriend to wait outside and went in my room to take some things and I was gone. I was 18 this time and my parents have nothing to tell me again.

After they saw that we are still together after some time they start liking him and now my mum is doing like this is already her son in law. My father likes him now but he is always making him afraid that he do not make something wrong with me or his grandchildren :D:cool:

In my experiences...growing up here, but being from Europe:

Irish----on the island, we don't care....My family there welcomed my ex and I with open arms and we never recieved looks or comments the entire two weeks we were in Dublin

Irish-Americans....many in Boston are still viciously racist and think nothing of making comments...we stay out of the Irish strongholds

Italians In Italy----yep, they are racist. When I was over there studying and showed pix of my man to my Italian friends and hosts the vast majority told "blanco and nero no en italia". However, one Italian friend of mine dates a Somali woman.

I know, I said the majority of people I encountered said that. I was in Tuscany for a month, maybe in other parts of the country the attitudes are different.

That's how it is with Italians. Men do whatever they want but God forbid the daughters even look at a black guy

In you live in a part of the U.S. where there are entrenched White ethnic communities, yes you do experience more bigotry as a Black person.

But in N. Va where I live there isn't the same racial animosity between Blacks and Italians.

    Girls here date whoever.:smt058

I lived in Italy for 4 years before moving to Germany, mostly in Southern Italy, but I did get to travel extensively around the country and the Islands in the south (Sicily, Corsica, and Sardinia). The prevailing attitude toward black men is decidedly negative, especially when it comes to black men dating their women. In Rome, while sitting in a restaurant with my girlfriend, who was Spanish, a little Italian girl dining with a young couple at the table next to ours came over to our table and asked my girlfriend if my skin hurt and where my tail was. Apparently, her parents taught her that brothers were dark from being burnt by fire and that we were devils or some other animal... In Rome and most places south of Rome, most people stared as though they were seeing an alien and older Italian women would cross their hearts in prayer, as if I brought some kind of curse with me. Things were more relaxed in the northern part of Italy in cities like Modena, Milan, and Bologna... that is to say, they didn't stare quite so hard and if the older women were crossing their hearts in prayer, they did it without the overtness seen in the south. Throughout the country, Italian women would show an interest, flirt on the sly and even try to meet in out of the way places, but you knew you weren't going to be invited to their houses to meet the family or for dinner... And while Italian men treat their women like sh*t (especially after marriage), they circled the wagons when brothers were in the hood. When their men started acting out like that, it reminded me of old westerns where the white man would yell out to his son to go fetch the gun whenever Indians appeared on the scene.

In discussions with Italians about the subject, they attributed their disdain for black men to Ottomans, the Moors, who in times past conquered the country, and in more modern times to brainwashing put on them by white American soldiers during WWII and most recently to the influx of refugees escaping Somalia and Sudan.

I have to admit I'd be on the fence about dating an Italian woman. American or European.

If the chemistry is there, I wouldn't close down the possibility simply based on her nationality or heritage, but I refuse to be somebody in a "witness protection program" that has to hide in a closet when her family is around...

They can make all the excuses they want...it all comes down to insecurity.
