I wouldn't say it's a must. However, I'd still say it's good to hear both perspectives. I think the most important thing is to seriously consider the source. Gotta seek out those level-headed people.

This. And I would say seek advice from those who have your very best interests at heart, whether male /female young/old, single/married. Folks you trust, that know your heart and know what you long for.

I don't really like the idea of sharing personal relationship "issues" with anyone other than your partner. Things tend to get stickier when others are involved. I definitely wouldn't seek guidance from a male friend. Not that I wouldn't trust their input, I just don't think it's really appropriate to involve another man in an issue with your current man. Lines get blurred that way with some guys, so I won't even go there. At most, I may confide in my bff, but that'd be it.

I'm one who very much believes in not allowing others into one's relationship. However, I think it's possible to gather advice from others without having them get into your business.

Sometimes it helps to get a different perspective on things.

I would definitely consider the source when asking for advice though.
