What people fail to realize is that it's still a very capitalist program. Oversimplifying the concept of "socialized medicine" is readily flawed, especially since people here have no real concept on what socialism is...especially when virtually all Americans benefit from it in some ways.
The people are so clouded with hate to Obama they never cared for their entire health. Hate can take your life.
It was originally a republican program that was swept under the carpet. When Obama looked into it the republicans cried foul and made it and Obama Public Enemy #1. This hatred for Obama is too much. John McCain smoothed things over at a town hall meeting by telling a woman who clearly didn't like Obama that Obama is a decent family man and that he and McCain just disagree on fundamental issues. Whatever they are.
The ACA has its flaws for sure, IMO it was the best deal that could be struck at the time to attempt to address the ever expanding cost of healthcare. There are a million and one different statistics pro and con, but for the most part the CBO is projecting that the ACA is in fact working to contain costs and cover more people which should lower costs in the long run.
Exactly. It's actually pretty good overall, and I think eventually, people will start to see it and contribute into it more, much like social security now is very popular.
Wasn't Romney the original author of it? And Obama lifted it and claimed it. Or at least, events to that effect, lol.
Regan's program merely forced CA hospitals to provide additional emergency care in the event of a catastrophic illness or accident that depleted a patient's regular Insurance's coverage limit, and l believe, for the poor and illegals with no coverage. ACA is based off of Romneycare, which was extensive, and required all MA residents to acquire basic health insurance coverage, and forced employers to cover workers. Pretty much the blueprint for ACA.
I can't agree with you on this one. It's helped me out quite a bit even though I previously had good coverage. And my girl, who no insurance, can now see a doctor on a regular basis for health issues she'd been ignoring because she couldn't afford to see anyone. Now, it did cost her her tax refund (which really wasnt that much to begin with). But, she would have had to come out of pocket by the thousands to get the care she's getting. It's a win all day to me.
Yeah, you are 100% correct on that. I would have much preferred single payer. I wished they would have at least tried to get that through. I think if they would've started with single payer. then negotiate down from there, the ACA would have been better over all.
True. ACA/Obamacare was marketed to the GOP electorate as free healthcare for "lazy unemployed" blacks at the expense of "hardworking tax paying" whites.
