I think all of this hoopla over women who look like barbie dolls is misleading and nothing more than not seeing the forest for the trees of a great many white women who may not have the barbie doll look, but are as beautiful in their character and spirit than any of these plastic covered women that so many of us black men go google over. Just my opinion.

My own woman is not what you call a drop dead beauty, but she is indeed beautiful in so many other ways. She is kind, considerate, thoughtful, intelligent, sympathetic, thought-provoking, helpful, loyal and most of all she knows how to please a man.

Black men, there are a great many white women in this world who need a man to love them and not just for their looks, especially when the looks start to fade. There is more to a woman than just looks.


I agree with you Blacktiger. I have dated some plain janes who didn't have the Barbie look. I definitely want a woman who is not only beautiful on the outside, also has inner beauty, intelligence, sympathetic, morals, and has common interests.

I have worked in the Fashion Industry and I hate it. The women are so superficial, arrogant, and snobbish. I do like plain janes and find them attractive.

I disagree with that line of thinking, because that's too subjective.There are athletes who have wives that may or may not be attractive to each individual, just like there are doctors, lawyers, and self made men that have wives that some would consider the same as above.Celebrities may have a higher profile,but I think this has little to do with what's available in order for someone to be with another they find attractive.


Just giving my .02, but I'm most attracted to a woman who has it together onthe inside first.I've seen enough of the so called "Barbie" types who are extremely self centered, scattered brained, etc.----it's not for me.It may sound cliche to some of you, but I'm into the woman I get to see everyday and say 'hello' to at the supermarket, the book store, my work, etc. The kind of person you can talk to and know that they are not just getting by in the world based on some superficial idea of beauty
.To each his own, but I think you learn what's most important about people as you grow.

Just like white men, black men are also subjected to the American standards of beauty. It's in practically every media outlet imaginable, hence the widespread obsession with the 'barbie doll look'. Now, I'm not here to knock what one man finds attractive, but that standard is often unrealistic, unattainable to most, and superficial at best. While physical attraction is important when calculating affection, it's personality and depth of character that really keeps you emotionally attracted to a person. Not physical appearance. Most people just realize that much too late.

Of course, with the trends to be as cute and sexy as possible will dominate for ages to come, tv, magazines, music, and movies will rarely tell you that appearances almost never keep people happy in the long run. It's what the person contributes to the situation on a personal, emotional, and intellectual level that will keep you attracted in a much more fullfilling and engaging manner.

But, you are allowed to be attracted to what you want. But if you're singling out plain Jane women with personality because you'd rather have a hot girl with the conversation skills of a brick, then you are the person who is settling. Because as soon as the hotter girl wanders by, so does your eye.

The thing is the Beauty within.We can write millions of books on it we can never stop giving tribute to Inner Beauty.
When I or any other man see a woman if he's attracted, the attractive process starts.if not he behaves like a gentleman .In away or anotherthe attactive process starts within .It's not something you can find outside yourself like a fruit on a tree ...It's all in the Heart.So What I see when I see a woman is not the color of the skin and the fact she's white, but what emanates from her.
It's more a question of sensitivity and receptivity.It belongs to the poetry realm .which is in fact real .... within ourselves .When a man falls in love with a woman he no more sees her skin or her face.Be the woman white black yellow or other.He 'll see the rainbow color on her face her skin her body ...eyes. Love has this power to uplift you...All this is due to Love.
Then the man takes care of his women Like a Queen...

The most egocentric and arrogant (bitchy)women ive EVER dealt with were the less attractive ones, in fact some of them THOUGHT they were ALLL THAT...lol...its funny how humble some of these bangin women are, and most of them even have self esteem issues. I know, hard to believe but trust me,,,,its the truth

 

What exactly is a barbie doll guys?
Is it just the skinny skinny girl or is it also the face?

Bcoz, I'm in France right now, and boy in Paris and in Strasbourg, and even in the tiny cities where I went like Honfleur in normandy, 8 girls out of 10 have a Barbie doll type of body...they don't all look pretty...but the biggest thing, especially in Strasbourg and Paris, many of them are walking hand in hand with a black guy...and trust me, not a basketball or a football player

God, I hadn't been back in France for 5 years and I just realized how healthy ppl are here...it is SCARY...no offense to all the American ladies on the board but man...you hardly see any "voluptuous" or whatever we call the very big girls so abundant in the US to make them (or ourselves) feel better!

America needs to get HEALTHY!!!

Oh and by the way, to answer the thread's question since it focuses on what we SEE, I'll take the barbie doll any day sizewise...now she can be natural and doesn't need to wear tons of make-up...that's the best! Hopefully I didn't offend anyone too much, just honestly said what I think!

 

I don't really care if the girl is a plain jane or a barbie doll....as long as the personalities/values match up well....its all good.

It does seem though that barbie dolls are either really bitchy or really nice.

As for a woman's size....I can't say I have a strong preference one way or the other.....I guess I'd rather have a woman that was 15 lbs "too heavy" as opposed to one that was 15 lbs "too skinny."

The idea that thinner is better/healthier is a new phenomenon...even for white men (think back to all of the Renaissance paintings....WM loved 'em thick too) According to reports that I've seen on the news and in the papers....a woman's weight doesn't matter so much as where it is stored...for instance with BW....some studies show that a heavier woman whose weight is stored primarily in her buttocks can easily have a life span just as long as a woman who is lean thoroughout her body.....as long as there isn't too much fat around the stomach & pancreas....its ok for the most part.

I'm not sure how many brothas on here remember the debate choosing between Mary Ann and Ginger from Gilligan's Island but I never really understood why that was so.

I was clearly more attracted to Mary Ann. She was the shorter, country girl, more hips and thicker thighs than Ginger.

Ginger was the movie star with blonde hair tall and thin...EWH!

I think white guys are more into the "barbie doll" look.

Well, it's not bcoz the fashion has gone from loving thick and pale women to skinny and tan that being overweight is in any shape or form a good thing man!
Now talking about health and stuff, you're talking to someone who is in the health sciences field...the studies you mentioned forgot to talk about all the fat that is stored on the blood vessels walls and around the most important organ you have: your heart!!! And trust me, if you have a lot of fat in your buttocks, you have a lot of fat on your blood vessels and around your heart...and infarctus isn't that far away...

Anorexy is terrible, but being fat is deadlier...and I'm not even talking about feeling heavy, being unable to run 100 yards, sweating like crazy after the smallest of effort...no debate about that!!!

Ok, sorry...back to the plain Janes Barbie dolls thing...
