Since he's the 1st black U.S. president, he gets the Nobel Peace Prize.

I was never thinking that he can move out so fast from Irak, like he said. Plus he never said, that they will move out of Afganistan.
I rember his BErlin speach, where he said, that he wants to put more troops in there and that he need interenational help for this.( It was funny, how germans was missing the point, that he was actualy asking also for troops from Germany)

It seems to be an award to get Obama to continue to push for nuclear disarmament, peace, etc. I think they probably should give it to them after ending one of the wars. But it will put pressure on him to push for further peace in Israel and other countries. The only way to get Israel to cooperate is to threaten to cut their funding. They receive more foreign funding than anyone else from the US.

He gets the Nobel peace prize for not being Bush.

Yea but when you already have two unpopular wars available. You can't exactly start a third war. I'm glad he received the Nobel peace prize but I think they should have waited until he stopped at least one war or started the nuclear disarmament plan. Or passed something that offered global warming solutions. There were others that were active in doing significant things and they probably should have got it this year.

Actually he has already done/is doing a lot for the environment and attacking global warming...

But Loki, working to save the environment does not equal a peace prize.

How anyone who is still sending men to die in wars can get a peace prize is beyond me.

Plus Guantanamo is still open. Peoples human rights are still being violated on his watch.

Fly, we can certainly agree that a very reasonable debate could be had as to whether their were more deserving candidates. I was merely pointing out to the previous poster who claimed that Obama has not done anything to address global warming, that he has in fact done a lot in 9 months in office. As far as Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo, I am reserving judgment, these are not easy issues to address, however I am glad to see that there at least seems to be critical thinking on the issues and some kind of plan being formulated.
