I sincerely hope this the end of what Rev. Wright does in this race. He is a non-issue. If voters are smart and aware enough, they would vote with common sense and their pocketbooks instead of whatever warped moral values, like the last election.

Rev. Wright is stupid for putting himself in the media for attention. Very un-reverend-like behavior.

Even though i've been doing my job as resident Negro at my workplace in defending Jeremiah Wright and by extension, Barack Obama, i'm starting to think that he's deliberately hurting Barack. Becuase certainly, he knows that his mere presence irritates people and the senator bears the brunt of it. I think Jeremiah Wright felt hurt by Barack Obama not vigorously defending him, but certainly he ought to understand that it was impossible for him to. I know they say you should never betray a friend but you know damn well that if Obama defends what he said, he's already lost.

C'mon now. I really hope the American people can use their common sense, but as we all know, many of us are gullible and when those 527 attack ads co me rolling in October, they'd be voting out to fear. Too bad!!!!

You guys are missing the truth; Barack Obama knew that this "controversy" would come out at some point during the campaign. Many of Hillary Clinton's surrogates said as much....they knew that this would be an issue because they had the tape of the sermon. Obama didn't invite Rev. Wright to his speech when he announced that he was running for president...he did that for a reason.

Barack didn't feel the need to bring it up if the media wasn't going to say anything.

Hillary didn't think she'd have to use the videos either....she assumed that Barack would be done after Iowa/New Hampshire and at the latest...she'd clinch the nomination on the night of Super Tuesday. Unfortunately for her...he won eleven straight contests...and she quickly found herself backed up against a wall. When her candidacy was looking bleak....magically...Rev. Wright appeared.

Obama decided to ride this out to see how far it would go....but it was obvious he was hoping this info wouldn't surface until after he was sworn in as president. Obama likely had no idea that it would get blown up to the proportions that it has been.

HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF MY POST:

Barack Obama could have squashed this story early and "denounced" Rev. Wright...but if he had done it quickly...the GOP would have been able to spring it on the voters in the fall. The story would have a certain freshness about it and it might have cost Barack the presidency. He wisely decided to let it play out in the media. He knew that he wasn't going to win Pennsylvania regardless of what he did...so he decided to go ahead and let this story run its course...and allow Hillary to gain whatever faux momentum she thinks she has.

Enter Rev. Wright again: Obama and Wright (I'm willing to bet) had a little conversation within the last week or two. Obama knows that he'll likely win North Carolina and that Indiana is a winnable contest....Pennsylvania (because of the institutional support Clinton has there) wasn't going to be the state to shut the door...he understood that. But he knows that wins in Indiana and North Carolina will shut the door (technically the door is shut...but this would be the exclamation point).

Obama calls Rev. Wright and implores him to "show out & act a fool"...saying things that are even more egregious (though I'm sure most black folks would agree with at least some of what the Rev. said) so that Barack could finally put the distance that's needed between himself and his former pastor.

Now the GOP and Hillary Clinton are in a bind.....bringing up Rev. Wright will only seem cheap. The GOP wants to win this election on character and personality.....because of the struggles overseas and at home...its going to be nearly impossible for them to win it on the issues. Taking Rev. Wright off the table puts Obama one step closer.

You've said it better than any fellow at any fucking "think-tank" would put it. We hear conservative Republicans time holler about tax-and-spend liberals who have no other ultimatum but to turn America into a cesspool of big government bureaucracy. But something they seem to forget is that many of their icons did indeed raise taxes. As Governor of California, Ronald Reagan gave Jerry Brown a run for his money when it came to raising taxes. Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon raised federal taxes in their time in the Oval Office. During the mild recession in the early 80s, Reagan quietly raised taxes without bringing much attention to it. Indeed, that was the focal point of Mondale's poorly articulated but accurate assessment. And who can ever forget, "Read my lips, no new taxes"? Under the 108th and 109th Congress, the Government Accountability Office has consistently shown that Republicans take the cake when it comes to wasteful spending, pointless earmarks and corruption.

Gee, i wonder who's the one wasting taxpayers' money.

Exactly.... Liberals and Conservatives raise taxes...the only difference between the groups is who they tax the most and who benefits the most from each sides' economic policy
