I dont think he should've commented on something he admitted he didnt have the facts on. Reading up on the cop I came to the conclusion that you had 2 ego's in the cop and Gates, but the cop has no history of racism and has been promoted by black superiors. He even teaches racial profiling classes. Gates is an old man with a 1940's mindset that whites are out to get him that just doesnt exist anymore, and this is coming from someone who is the same as Gates and Obama, mixed race half white half black. 2 ego's clashed that night, simple as that. There is racial profiling out there, but not in this case. Sorry, not going to back him just because he's a minority.
Agree he didn't have all the facts, but he admitted he didn't. Frankly, I was glad to see Bam show just a little bit of emotion for a change and not be so damned rational! No doubt both men got pissed off. But the cop is a law professional; he should not have led with his temper - especially when he's dealing with an older gentleman like Gates, who could not threaten him. What did you all think about the Prez's joke about getting shot if he was trying to jigger the lock on the White House? The man has some guts, I'd say. And great comic timing. Of course, he's now being painted as a "militant black." There is so much fear out there. Maybe somehow all of this will shine a light on the shadows ... let's hope.
