Urgh, so disgusting. I'm so glad police here don't have guns.

Somehow I'm skeptical when police investigate police murdering innocent people.

Leave race out of it for a second.

A human being was shot 12 times in the back by police officers.

I don't know what bothers me more. That this actually happens, or that there was more outrage about the shooting in Oakland, where police also shot and killed a man. I saw the video, it pissed me off...but he was only shot once and it caused a riot!

I haven't even found any coverage of this story in the local news here in Houston, and the boy was living here. Usually they cover things like that in detail, and the local news channels generally don't avoid news from New Orleans because we have so many people living here from NOLA thanks to Katrina. But this story, no, not even one mention on khou.com. I searched the site, couldn't find a damn thing.

I can't even fathom why such force would be necessary, even if the boy shot first. They shot 48 times total?!?!? What did they think, the kid had an army in his car?!??!

It makes me fucking sick. I don't care what race the victim was, this was wrong.

This shit is foul. I showed the video to my boyfriend, who's from New Orleans, and even he hadn't heard about it. Usually his family that still lives there calls him and keeps him updated, but apparently they're trying to keep it quiet or something. He said that's why he won't live there anymore. He's told me a little about how twisted the cops are down there, but this is just...wow.

well we have to care about race, even if we would rather not, because these shootings seem to happen to people who resemble us, more than anyone else. Since society has us labeled racially, we have to look at it racially, even if we don't care about color.

I understand that. I didn't mean it shouldn't be a factor at all, I meant just the fact that this happened, without even paying attention to all the variables, pisses me off beyond. Looking at race just makes it even more of a fucked up situation, ya know?

Okay, I have heard about the NOLA police being what it is, corrupted, but here the thing: why did the victim had a gun and shotgun in the first place? I don't know what truly happened down there, and don't know the victim although the news report said he had no prior criminal record and was well thought as a high school student. But that doesn't automatically mean stayed away from fights and such and such, who knows.

Like Sean Bell, this was not a race-based killing done; I mentioned Sean Bell since some uptight people feel this was racist. It wasn't, not when there were black cops there who are allegedly involved, and were later acquitted. Even with occurences like this, people should still put their trust and faith on law enforcement; part of a corrupt NOLA police force does not make the entire police forces in the country bad, there are still a lot of good, honest, and hard working cops out there.
