He's only apologizing b/c his speaking engagement, where he likely would have earned six figures, got cancelled. Now that is bigoted, extremist comments are hitting his wallet he is backing off.

I would like to know exactly how he was mis-quoted and exactly what he did mean.

Quite frankly, pseudo-scientists like this should not be given the time of the day.

Dude discovered the double helix and was the head of the Human Genome Project.

Calling him a pseudo-scientist is ignorant. Racist is better. But not pseudo.

These mofos are just tryin' to stir up some shit -- that's all. Some peeps will do anything to get their name in the press.

The problem is only when Black folks themselves buy into this extremely racist bullshit.

Before you give him too much credit look up the works of Rosalind Franklin. The whizzy on the strizzy is that she was instrumental in giving Watson and his partner a "spark". She died and was never really recognized posthumously.

This is true, but do you really think that means that Watson isn't still an amazingly intelligent scientist? No point disputing that, he's just a dickhead.

And the fact that his comments were just random musings, not the result of serious research he'd done on the issue. Even if what he was saying was true, he's talking about averages in large groups. That would be meaningless when you look at individuals, who would still be all over the board.

But no one, including Mr Watson has done serious conclusive research on this and there is a good reason- because nothing really useful would come of it whatever the answer. It would fuel the fires of racial tension. People would argue over genetic superiority and/or biased tests and the whole issue would keep everyone in the mindset of being two different peoples. Meanwhile we'll always find geniuses and dimwits in every racial group, just like we do today.
