http://www.businessinsider.com/ronald-nelson-turned-down-every-ivy-league-school-for-university-of-alabama-2015-5 Ronald Nelson is one very smart young man. So smart in fact that he was accepted to all 8 Ivy League schools and when it came down to choosing where he would be spending the next four years of his educational life he decided to reject each and everyone of them and he choose to go to the University of Alabama. His main reasons for choosing Alabama over the Ivy League and not to mention Stanford, John Hopkins, NYU, and Vandy. Despite it's rep as a football school it is pretty good academically ranking #88 among all universities according to US news and world reports and they offered him a full scholarship.
I read about him today...was gonna put it in the Ivy League thread. Love this kid. But it sucks that just because of money, he had to forsake the more prestigious schools. It's rare when any student gets accepted to all EIGHT I.L schools, and then some. One of them should have stepped up and snagged him.
Not with an engineer father and an upper management mom It's the middle class trap. Some people bust their ass to get their families into good neighborhoods and send their kids to good school but don't make enough for these top schools. So basically either you got bread or you suffer in some way
That's crazy but I can dig it If you're a brilliant kid tho, ull shine wherever you go And if you go into medicine period and do well, you can write your own ticket in life
Doubt it The population keeps booming (all these gotdam illegals), many areas are under served, and the barriers to entry for the profession are as trifling as ever You can't just plunk down 2 grand at your local 6 month tech school and get an md, lol On a side note....yahoo says mba are facing a hiring boom
No it won't. Just the opposite. Very grave situation for the numbers of general health practitioners, which parlays to patients. Many docs are fed up and leaving. So there will be a desperate need for them. 9 out of 10 docs actually discourage others to get into the profession.
It's a stressful job with a reputable suicide rate It's one of those classic examples of pay + prestige vs true happiness For some....being a doc is all they want....for others..........meh
I'm in that space but it's not for the super high paying jobs they use to get for being an analysis. If you have a background in data science aka data mining you're golden but a lot of that shit is sales. I'm lucky I'm in a space that's in it's infancy and considered a volatile risk at this point. Often times when I'm in a low month I think about going back to straight up accounting or even auditing but I believe in the potential and Lord help me if it works out the way I want to because if you thought I was an asshole before.... lol
The minute they can figure out the technology as far as AI like systems that can replace most of your GPs and radiologist all that's left is surgery and the advancements on robo surgery looks pretty promising. I guess they can always fix cleft palets in the third world
Just saying lol A TDK with no money is an Internet troll. TDK with money is most likely going to be like a bond villain lol
Either version is utterly enjoyable imho. You've begun referring to yourself in the third person. Raider likes it lol
Smart kid and he doesnt need to go to an Ivy League school to make it in life as long as he is intelligent enough to graduate magna cum laude at this school
