[IMG] Officers Won't Face Charges In Sean Bell Shooting

The NYPD officers responsible for the barrage of 50-bullets that killed unarmed Sean Bell in 2006 will not face civil rights charges.
The justice department made the ruling Tuesday citing insufficient evidence.
The justice department has since released a statement saying that the three officers responsible for the murder of Bell did not violate his civil rights and that they did not find enough evidence to prove that the officers had willfully acted to deny him the rights given by the constitution.
A portion of their statement reads,
“Neither accident, mistake, fear, negligence, nor bad judgment is sufficient to establish a federal criminal civil rights violation.”
In 2006 Sean Bell was murdered and two of his friends were seriously injured outside a New York club following his bachelor party. He was set to be married to his fiancée Nicole Paultre-Bell later that day before officers fired 50 shots into his vehicle. There were no weapons in the car.
Three officers were acquitted in 2008 of manslaughter, assault and reckless endangerment even though police say that officer Michael Oliver stopped to reload his weapon, firing 31 of the 50 shots that filled the vehicle.
The family of Sean Bell has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city and is seeking help from President Obama in the case.
    SMH...this is absolutely ridiculous.

So much for justice...our prayers are with Nicole Paultre-Bell and his family.

Is it that police are above the law, or is it simply that the government does not value the life of a Black Man to begin with?

Either way, another huge miscarriage of justice. We should be ashamed as a nation that this could happen.

I would venture to say the city will settle the wrongful death suit with the family before it goes to trial...I bet they get a huge sum of money...police officers are rarely charged in these situations...so sad...what a slap in the face to his family and soon to be wife:(

Justice is an illusion. The world only cares about you if you're a pretty white girl or incredibly wealthy. I'm tired of being disgusted the only thing to do is get money and hope to be treated with some type of fairness. It's the only road for a bm in this world.
Btw a big fuck you to the idiot that talked about Sean Bell's rap sheet. The cops didn't know about it before they opened fire. Even if they did there was no due cause. I'll bet my balls had they accidentally shot a white girl in the process they'd all be doing serios time.

Maybe ya'll should actually read the fucking testimony of what happened at the scene.

Sean Bell DROVE HIS VAN AT A COP. Sorry, but I'm fucking unloading on anyone that does that.

I fucking hate people who judge cops and what they do and have absolutely no fucking perspective at what they have to endure every day.

No one said that all cops are dicks it's just way too coincidental that every single wrongful death involving a cop and a citizen the citizen is more times than not a mnority and never ever a white girl. I'm just saying...

Oh cry me a damned river for the poor ever enduring police officer.

Sean Bell is dead. The cops are not. Your plea for sympathy for his murderers is revolting.

They did not tell him they were police officers, they appeared to be attempting to do violence upon him on the eve of his wedding, and now he is dead and they get another notch on their belts for "one more Black Man handled". Just a good day's work, right?

    Yup. That's absolutely right.

Especially considering one of the officers was black. But you nicely skipped over that fact.

Maybe you should just be quiet for a while and go back to the little kids table.

Cops are never Black or White, they're Blue.

If you're so new to the world that you're unaware of how violently racist Black police officers are to Black Men, I suggest you go find a damned booster seat for yourself.

Black police officers are racist against Black Men. White Police officers are racist against Black Men. Asian police officers are racist against Black Men.

If we ever hire Aliens as police officers, they will be racist against Black Men.

The problem is deeper than hiring practices.

Dude just because one of the officers was black doesn't mean it wasn't racism. Many officers have come out and said that they have taught to handle black suspects with more excessive force since they can be potential gang members. And chi city is totally right, they murdered him they even said they didn't identify themselves as police officers. So if someone drew a gun on you and you were behind the wheel would you sit and get shot or floor it.

And that's how good it is to be white, or have someone "forget that you were black".

Nothing, but a BM gone under something unwarranted. He's gone and police negligence and brutality still continue.

I just know they were trying to pass the bill. Oh well. I was just curious had it gone through or not.

I agree with everything you said except your first statement because even when dealing within the blue shield it sometimes comes down to race.
