HBOs series staring Jill Scott is set in Botswana. ONDemand has a series primer which discusses Botswanas history and its leader, Seretse Khama, who married a white woman. http://www.hbo.com/events/no1ladies/index.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seretse_Khama
Looks OK. I love Jill, but her African accent is not well-rendered. I think CCH Pounder would've made for a better choice in that role. The BBC is running this series on Sunday evening. Haven't got round to watching it. Gill Scott's accent is a little off I agree. Just by watching the short trailer; I can see she pulls the mannerisms off quite well though.
http://www.hbo.com/no1ladiesdetectiveagency/video/ I enjoyed The Gem and Beat of Botswana. I enjoy the backstories to the making of the series. Hope the show is as good.
It is good to see Botswana, a African country with an emerging economy and relatively stable political system, getting this type of publicity.
