Here's why i'm going to agree with you that the New England game will be difficult for Chicago : The Cover 2 scheme cannot work well against the way that Tom Brady likes to throw the football. As we all saw on monday night, if you have a very accurate passer who can fit the ball into the tiny windows in the secondary (like Tom Brady can), the Cover 2 scheme can be exposed for big plays down the field. However, in Chicago's defense, i've seen plenty of teams get big chunks of yardage against the Bears secondary, only to be stifled when they get into the red zone, where those windows in the secondary become too small to fit the ball into. That in my opinion, is actually where the Cover 2 is at it's best, down in the red zone. So even though Tom and the boys will pick up big yards in the passing game most likely, i think the amount of touchdowns that they score will be held to a minimum if they can't somehow get the run game untracked, and i feel really good about our chances in that department because we have Brian "The King" Urlacher back there making 25 tackles! haha. he was actually credited with making 25 tackles in that game on monday night instead of the 19 that they originally thought, but the coach said that number could have been even higher if he didn't miss a few here and there. Another fact worth noting is that for whatever reason, Rex Grossman plays better outdoors. He looks like a different quarterback when he plays outdoors in Green Bay or in Soldier Field, than when he's indoors in the Metrodome, Ford Field, the New Cardinals Stadium, etc.... It's weird with him. Anyway, so against the Pats, outside in the cold weather, i actually expect Rex to play fairly well, and if he does that, the Pats will be in trouble. Rex will always be the X-factor for this team throughout the rest of the season. If he plays well (which we've seen 4 1/2 out of the 6 games he has) the Bears will win almost every football game because any offense that we get is a bonus not a requirement (as evidenced by the winning record last year, despite Kyle "Noodle Arm" Orton at quarterback). But, if Rex plays bad, it could get ugly up there in Foxboro....so, we shall definitely see. I can't wait![/quote] I totally agree with all assessments. The Pats will be in a dogfight. That said, the Pats D is similar, the philosophy is to give up the small stuff but don't let them in. Brady and Maroney are the X factors here. Maroney is explosive in special teams and spelling Dillon, and Brady just gets the job done. It will be the hardest game of the year for both teams, and might be a Super Bowl preview. Yeah, I can't wait either. But I suspect Belichick will have a lot of wrinkles up their sleeves defensively. Hell, let's do this shit already!! BT
Hey BlackTiger, your Pats are gonna be in for one heckuva game this sunday in the Metrodome. Everybody thinks that the Bears have such a weak division, and they laughed that we almost lost to the Vikings, but the Patriots are gonna find out just like the Bears did, that the Vikings have a really good team, and their defense is excellent. Good luck BT, your Pats are gonna need it this week.
Here's the thing. Tom Brady HAS NEVER LOST in a dome. Ever. Tough game, but we'll score enough to win. BT
oh yeah, i think they're playing on monday night instead of sunday, so that's a correction on my part.
