My thoughts before the monday night Bears` victory over the Cardinals :)

    SAINTS: Two words: I BELIEVE!!!!!!

PANTHERS: Jeez, wished thay had lost, but once again these guys are an NFC contender that will give a lot of trouble to the BEARS come playoff time!

SEAHAWKS and STEELERS: don`t bury the last Superbowl teams too fast!!

TITANS: Vince Young has arrived...just like Leinart last week...and with Reggie Bush, Laurence Maroney already doing wonders, what a rookie class!!!!!!

    COWBOYS: Two letters: T.O.!!!!

FALCONS: They are quite disappointing, but it`s good for my Saints that they lost :)

    LIONS: ONE WIN!!! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!

    RAIDERS: Sigh...snif..sob...:( just...so...SAD! :)

Alright guys, hopefully the Cardinals will make monday night Football a bit interesting!! :)

Gosh...I feel BAD, BAD, BAD for these Arizona players and for Leinart!

Jeez, I really start hating Chicago too...and their quaterback...hmm...Bryant you might need to re-think that Grossman taking you to the promise land!!

That games was sure a shocker. I sure didn't think the Bears were going to win.

I gotta admit, I do like having them as my defense though.

why do I feel like I am talking to myself in here....

is it that I am a woman? and you think I know nothing about football?

if you want.. I can stay out of here if this is meant for a men only.

Qsassy, you are not talking to yourself...and this is not for men only...by no means!!!! :)

I don`t respond to the whole Fantasy football bcoz I don`t do that at all...I actually (sorryyyyy) find it a bit...weird...

But I am as surprised as you that there aren`t more FOOTBALL fans talking here...BRYANT thecrazy Bears fan didn`t say a word on this new thread!!!!!

    ok... cool..

this is my second yr in FF. Personally I think its great, because it teaches you to care about more than just your 'favorite team'... I did a better job putting together my team this year so its been very exciting for me..

I find I have more interest in other games besides my team.. so its made all football more fun for me

LOL! very funny Jrem! haha. sorry Sassy, but i'm with Jrem on that, i just don't dig the whole fantasy football thing. I don't mind if anybody else plays it, i just think that it takes too much emphasis away from the game, and puts it moreso on statistics, which i don't like. I'm a lover of the game, not statistics.

But, let me give my two cents about the game:

    1. My faith in Rex Grossman is NOT broken, even after such a bad game. The reason is because i see something in Rex that i haven't seen in a Chicago quarterback since i've been old enough to watch football.... i see CONFIDENCE. Even though this kid sat back there and threw interception after interception after interception, not once did he look rattled, and that's a sign of a great quarterback in the making. And i haven't forgotten that this is basically the longest that Rex has gone without getting injured, so i'll allow him a bad game or two during the season. The bye week couldn't have come at a better time. The coaches can sit Rex down this week and show him that taking the check down (exactly what Matt Leinart did to us) is not such a bad thing. Rex has such a gunslinger mentality, but when he learns how to be patient and take what the defense gives him, he'll be just fine.

    2. Matt Leinart is for real. Woe to the Oakland Raiders and all of those other teams for passing on this kid. He was confident and poised, and he basically shredded the best defense in football for the entire night. That guy is the real deal.

    3. The reason why the Cardinals lost is because they absolutely positively can't run the football. If they had have been able to pound the rock even a little bit, they could have closed out the game. They really need to get that run game addressed.

    4. Brian Urlacher took over, and won that game for us. I mean, the guy just wouldn't let us lose. That was an amazing performance by him, absolutely amazing!!!

    5. And lastly, the Bears showed me something last night, and that is football games are won and lost by all 3 phases of the game (offense, defense, AND special teams) and even though the Bears offense totally sucked, if you play superior special teams and defense for 4 quarters, you can STILL win a ballgame, despite 6 turnovers.

    Week Six Power Rankings:

    1. Chicago- Despite their poor offensive showing, this Bears team proved that if you play dominating defense and special teams, you can win a lot of ballgames. They'll come back strong when they host the San Francisco 49ers after the bye week.

    2. Indianapolis- One word "Peyton Manning." As long as they have the best quarterback in the league, they have a shot at beating anybody, even if their defense is absolutely atrocious. And the signing of Booger McFarland will probably help the run defense a little.

    3. San Diego- Besides the New Orleans Saints, this team scares me, a LOT. Their defense is terrific, they have the best running back in all of football, one of the more explosive backup running backs in football, the best tight end in the game, a great coach, and a great quarterback in the making.

    4. New Orleans- No longer do i consider the Saints a feel good team, these guys are REALLY, REALLY good. Drew Brees looks great, McCallister looks great, Bush looks great, and even their defense is playing well. The team just flat out looks terrific, and they've earned my respect.

    5. Denver- The Broncos defense looks great, anchored by Al Wilson, John Lynch, and Champ Bailey, but that offense is leaving something to be desired. The Jay Cutler era is about to begin.

    6. Carolina- Forget about Donovann McNabb, Steve Smith is the MVP of the league. Not only does he completely rip apart the Bears defense IN SOLDIER FIELD, he goes and does the exact same thing to the Baltimore Ravens. Carolina is 4-0 with Steve Smith, and 0-2 without him. He's incredible. He definitely gets my nod for MVP.

    7. Jacksonville- I think the Jags are the most underrated team in football right now. They're firing on all cylinders, and i think they have the potential to knock off any of the top five teams on any given sunday.

    8. New England- I'm still not totally sold on the Pats, but with Tom Brady behind center, and that kid Maroney running wild, they'll have a good shot come January.

    9. Pittsburgh- They make my top ten because they started out really slow last year and we all know what happened once they got on a roll.

    10. Cincinnati- I don't know what's gotten into the Bengals of late, but when their offense gets hot, they're virtually impossible to stop, even despite their powder puff defense.

AAAaaaaah...THAT is the Bryant that I know!!!

you were a bit too silent...I guess chigirl was right, you were probably recovering from that CRAAAAAAAAZY game!!!

You analysis is really good though...with Edge James at RB, the Cards couldn`t run the football...and they lost...Shame on their offensive line!!!

    I like your power rankings...

I don`t hate the Bears, I actually think they scare me...these guys have not only a great defense, a GREAT defense quaterback in Urlacher, a maturing quaterback in Grossman, but also they have that "little luck" that favors great teams!!! is this the year???

Hmmm...wait and see!!!! but for now, Da Bears are the BEAST of this NFL young season!!!!

God Sassy, if FF helped you know more about other teams...but well, I don`t really need it to know more about other teams and other players...but I`m sure once one gets into FF, one gets hooked...so that`s good...football is a good addiction! :)

Can`t wait for WEEK 7...my Saints have a bye and all the other NFC south teams have tough matches....Yeah!!!!

    Bryant, what's up?

Nah, nah, dawg, you got it twisted...

Indy #2??? No way. The running game is atrocious right now, and their D isn't good. Plus the Pats have their number. Take Peyton outta that dome, and we'll see. No dis on Peyton, and he takes more responsibility on the line of scrimmage more than any QB in the league. That said, you can expose him with disguised blitzes. I think that Indy is on the downslide. I really do.

Jacksonville are posers. They have a good D, but the O is completely shaky, and if they have to play up north in the playoff, they will be completely exposed.

Bryant, I am looking totally forward to the Pats v. Bears battle, its gonna be so ugly, and I hope it's raining and totally nasty. I will tell you this, it will be the toughest battle that the Bears will have all year. If the Bears win, and don't have too many people crippled :D , they may go all the way. But the road will go through the Pats. Belie dat.

    Peace out.

Here's why i'm going to agree with you that the New England game will be difficult for Chicago :

The Cover 2 scheme cannot work well against the way that Tom Brady likes to throw the football. As we all saw on monday night, if you have a very accurate passer who can fit the ball into the tiny windows in the secondary (like Tom Brady can), the Cover 2 scheme can be exposed for big plays down the field. However, in Chicago's defense, i've seen plenty of teams get big chunks of yardage against the Bears secondary, only to be stifled when they get into the red zone, where those windows in the secondary become too small to fit the ball into. That in my opinion, is actually where the Cover 2 is at it's best, down in the red zone. So even though Tom and the boys will pick up big yards in the passing game most likely, i think the amount of touchdowns that they score will be held to a minimum if they can't somehow get the run game untracked, and i feel really good about our chances in that department because we have Brian "The King" Urlacher back there making 25 tackles! haha. he was actually credited with making 25 tackles in that game on monday night instead of the 19 that they originally thought, but the coach said that number could have been even higher if he didn't miss a few here and there.

Another fact worth noting is that for whatever reason, Rex Grossman plays better outdoors. He looks like a different quarterback when he plays outdoors in Green Bay or in Soldier Field, than when he's indoors in the Metrodome, Ford Field, the New Cardinals Stadium, etc.... It's weird with him. Anyway, so against the Pats, outside in the cold weather, i actually expect Rex to play fairly well, and if he does that, the Pats will be in trouble. Rex will always be the X-factor for this team throughout the rest of the season. If he plays well (which we've seen 4 1/2 out of the 6 games he has) the Bears will win almost every football game because any offense that we get is a bonus not a requirement (as evidenced by the winning record last year, despite Kyle "Noodle Arm" Orton at quarterback). But, if Rex plays bad, it could get ugly up there in Foxboro....so, we shall definitely see. I can't wait!

Those are all some really good picks Jrem. There are only a few that i have to disagree with, albeit reluctantly  . Let me just mention one other thing before i get started. I have a really bad feeling about these picks that i'm making. This is the first time all season that i feel like each and every single game being played, can swing either way for either team. I could wind up misfiring with all of my picks this week, but in the mean time i'll definitely keep my fingers crossed. 8)

    1. I think Cincinnati will win at home against Carolina. I think it'll be close, but i just find it hard to believe that Cincinnati, as good as we all know they are, can allow themselves to lose for the third consecutive game, and at home on top of it.

    2. Jets over Lions...agreed.

    3. Miami vs. Greenbay....um, this game is tricky, because both teams are really bad. I want to go with my gut and say the Packers for some reason, but they have absolutely no playmakers on that team (besides Jennings) and the Dolphins have 3 in Chambers, Brown, and McMichaels, so i'll go with the Dolphins on this one.

    4. Jacksonville over Houston....agreed. (I love that kid Jones-Drew. He's really good)

    5. New England over Buffalo....agreed.

    6. Philadelphia over Tampa Bay....agreed (however, Cadillac Williams and Joey Galloway will both have pretty big days).

    7. Pittsburgh over Atlanta....agreed. I'm one of Michael Vicks biggest fans in the whole world, but c'mon Michael, you HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO THROW THE FOOTBALL!!! :? He's such a one dimensional quarterback it's not even funny. If they ever get down in the game, there's no way for them to ever come back and win because he can't pass a lick. I'm starting to think that they should sit Vick down and play Shaub until Vick learns how to throw the football down the field. Of course that won't happen, but something has to be done or else the Falcons are toast.

    8. San Diego over Kansas City....agreed. The Chiefs are at home, but San Diego has such a great defense this year, and Rivers looks like a great player in the making, so i'll go with the Chargers, however there will only be a one touchdown differential here.

    9. Cleveland over Denver....i'm not too sure about that. I'm picking Denver to win in a close game. It won't be an upset, but the Broncos will squeak by with a win.

    10. Arizona over Oakland....yes, AGREED! The Raiders are absolutely atrocious! And now they get to see first hand the guy that they passed over in the draft. That's what they get for being so stupid. They deserve to be 0-5 or 0-6 or whatever they are. That's too bad for Randy though. I was really hoping that New England would trade for him.

    11. Seattle over Minnesota by five.

    12. Hmm....Redskins over Colts huh. You know, i'm tempted to say the same thing because the Skins are really hungry for a win, and the Colts are vulnerable against the run. However, i just don't have the guts to put my faith in Mark Brunell in any game, so i'm picking the Colts until further notice.

    13. Dallas over New York....agreed. I'm just not sold on Eli Manning. He's NO WHERE near the level of Peyton. In my opinion, i don't see any real difference between Eli and Rex Grossman. Eli has a long way to go if you ask me. By the way, for the first time ever, i'm actually sick of hearing about T.O. Before, when he was in Philly or when he was in San Fran, i never cared about his celebrations or his constant craving for media attention, but now it's just starting to urk me a little bit for some reason. I'm starting to wish that the guy would just shut up and play football for a change. It'll be refreshing if he does.

I should have gone with my gut this week instead of my head. I misfired on almost all of my picks just like i thought i would. From here on out i'm going with my gut instincts and intuition. I'm sure that i'll be more accurate on all of my picks that way.
