Sonny. On second thought your team's not worth me typing. Is there even a team in Minnesota?

Okay guys, because there's a game tomorrow, it's time to get our picks in for week 1.

Basically, here are the rules: The person with the best record at the end of the season wins. And anyone who joins later, has to automatically accept a .500 record.

    Let the games begin!!! :D

    Washington @ NY Giants

Although the Giants are the champs, they are without Umenyiora, Mitchell, and Strahan. Washington on the other hand hasn't been all that great in the preseason, and has an offense that's completely out of sync. I think the G-Men win a close one here to start their season off right.

    Detroit @ Atlanta

Wow, two very bad teams going head to head. I wouldn't be caught dead watching this game. I'm picking Detroit because they're just a little less bad than Atlanta is.

    Cincinnati @ Baltimore

The Ravens are getting a little long in the tooth on defense, and on offense they're starting a rookie quarterback. Cincinnati isn't a great team by any stretch of the imagination, but they have more firepower at this point than Baltimore does. Cincy wins on the road.

    Seattle @ Buffalo

This is an interesting game. I don't have a great read on either team. I'm picking Seattle because their defense is proven.

    NY Jets @ Miami

Brett Favre in his first game as a Jet vs. Chad Pennington in his first game as a Dolphin. Miami just doesn't have the ability to put enough points on the board. NY has more proven playmakers.

    Kansas City @ New England

The Chiefs really don't stand any chance of winning this game.

    Tampa Bay @ New Orleans

The Saints are looking good on offense as usual, and they even added some much needed depth on the defensive side of the ball. Tampa won the division last year, but their quarterback by committee isn't gonna work forever.

    St. Louis @ Philadelphia

The Eagles are without their top wide receiver, but the Rams are a lousy team outdoors. Philly should win here.

    Houston @ Pittsburgh

The Texans have a really solid team, but not solid enough to beat a team like the Steelers.

    Jacksonville @ Tennessee

Vince Young hasn't impressed. I wonder why he hasn't gotten scolded yet. David Garrard is a good qb, and with Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor, they should win this game on the road.

    Dallas @ Cleveland

This is a really good matchup between two really good offenses. I have no idea who is going to win this game, but if i have to pick, i'm gonna say Cleveland wins in a shootout.

    Carolina @ San Diego

I would have picked Carolina in the upset had Steve Smith been playing. However, he isn't. So i'm going with the Chargers here.

    Arizona @ San Francisco

I like Kurt Warner as the starting qb for the Cards. He's definitely an upgrade over Leinart. The Niners are just a lousy team and will be for a while.

    Chicago @ Indianapolis

Most people know that i hardly ever pick against my favorite team, but this is going to be one of the rare times that i do. Our defense has been getting killed in pre-season, and Kyle Orton is unproven at quarterback. I just don't think we have what it takes to knock off the Colts on the road during their home opener of the season. The odds are definitely stacked against my Bears.

    Minnesota @ Green Bay

I know Minnesota is the darling team that everybody is raving about, but i think the Cheeseheads have a good chance at winning this game. If they can contain Adrian Peterson and keep Tarvaris Jackson in the pocket, Green Bay can definitely steal it.

    Denver @ Oakland

I think Jay Cutler is going to make the leap this year into elite quarterback territory. He has all the tools. Oakland is a young team, and isn't ready for the primetime yet. Donkeys should win this game.

Okay, it's time for the week 2 picks! I have to admit that i completely floundered with my picks last week, and it wasn't pretty lol. Here are our records so far:

    Cris: 11-5

    Malik:11-5

    Bryant: 9-7

    Life: 8-8

Tony: (Didn't submit any picks for week 1, so automatically take an 8-8 record).

Here are my picks for the second week of the 2008 NFL Season:

    Chicago
    @ Carolina:

My Bears shocked the heck out of me by beating the Colts at the opening of their new stadium. Steve Smith isn't playing. Matt Forte is a star in the making. Bears will be 2-0 to start the season!

    Tennessee @ Cincinnati:

Vince Young is a nut case, but good thing Kerry Collins is starting in his place.

    Green Bay @ Detroit:

Still not sold on Rodgers, but Cheeseheads are definitely better than the Kittens.

    Buffalo @ Jacksonville:

Buffalo is for real, but Jags aren't going 0-2 to start the season.

    Oakland @ Kansas City:

Chiefs are the worst team in football.

    Indianapolis @ Minnesota:

Yes, i'm picking the vaunted Colts to go 0-2 to start the season!

    Giants
    @ Rams:

My mistake....Chiefs aren't the worst team in football, the Rams are.

    New Orleans @ Washington:

Redskins always give the Saints trouble for some reason.

    San Fran @ Seattle:

The Seahawks are without their top 4 wide receivers, and running backs are injured. Niners are healthier and should pull out the win.

    Atlanta @ Tampa Bay:

Turner won't be having all the running yards against the Buccaneer defense.

    Miami @ Arizona:

Cards are better than the Dolphins.

    San Diego @ Denver:

I knew Cutler was gonna have a breakout year.

    New England @ NY Jets:

    No Brady, no playoffs!

    Pittsburgh @ Cleveland:

Steelers are the best team in the AFC.

    Philadelphia @ Dallas:

I do like the Eagles, but Dallas is at home, and should win a really close, hard fought game.

    Baltimore @ Houston:

Joe Flacco is still a rookie. He will be exposed as a rookie this week.

    B

"Thay R who we thought they were" was from Dennis Green of the Cardinals. I thought you would get that B damn.....

    Titans
    Cheez Heads
    Chiefs
    Colts
    Panthers
    Jags
    S'Hawks
    Bucks
    Pats
They are who we thought they were
    Denver
    Pitt
    The Dallas Contingent
    B'More
    G'Men
    Saints

One other thing why should someone get 8 wins for not picking at all? You should be 0-16

Noooo, i knew that the quote was from Dennis Green lol. I just wanted to be perfectly sure though, so it's all good. I'll go ahead and change your record to 11-5 :) ;)

Oh, and as far as getting an 8-8 record instead of automatically going 0-16, it just seems like too big a hole to climb out of for anybody. We had a vote last season as to what the penalty would be for anybody who doesn't pick, and to start out they automatically have to accept a .500 record. If Tony doesn't pick this week, we'll probably count him out, and not rely on him picking any games this season.
