Colin did make a sacrifice and his opposition knows it. Know why? Because there was a time when people were burning his jerseys, throwing away their season tickets and canceling subscriptions to protest him while saying "Kap threw his entire career away/sacrificed his career for a stupid cause. Hes out of a job. Have fun being broke now. You're really going to give up all those millions idiot. You gave up a good thing". It's only now that he done made a huge impact AND secured the bag that people dont see it as a sacrifice.
The anthem and flag weren't even made with us in mind. Like the law or politicians signing "executive orders", what's the PRACTICAL application. What's the Civil Rights act, without practical application? What's blacks constitutionally given the right to vote without practical application and having counties come up with loophole ways to prevent blacks from voting back in the day? Fuck what it all means on paper. We can talk about the flag and it's meaning all day but the same ones worried about the flag are the ones on Facebook giving praise to some pink kid knocking another student out his chair for not standing for the flag.
But he didn't sacrifice everything. Those people saying that are just that. People saying things. Fact is, John Elway offered him the Broncos QB spot in a contract restructure. He declined it. He also actually continued to be offered his job as QB for the 49ers. He declined it, opting for free-market. He then was about to be offered another QB job by the Ravens and destroyed that because his ego let his girl call his potential future boss a slave-master and Ray his slave. The fuck you expect to happen? What does that have to do with police brutality? He never sacrificed everything. He messed up his own income, which is why he's suing to get it back. Can't blame the white man for this one.
Like the loud #MeToo movement. Surely you're aware there are detractors of that. If not, may l direct you to the thread on this board.
Nike are not protesting police brutality, get real AB. It's a shrewd business move to insert their brand in the hoopla. Now everyone is talking about Nike. Are you aware that Nike just signed a 10-year deal with the NFL (and pretty much blind-sided them with this) so if he's the face of Nike and Nike are the exclusive brand of the NFL..it's not done and done. Nike lost over $3 billion at closing today or -3%. Time will tell if it was smart or not. Look, Colin isn't stupid. He publicly supports Marxist Che' Guevara, but he is a really a capitalist-driven opportunist. So how cool he found yet another contract job with Nike. What does he do?. Sit for a pic. Claim he "sacrificed everything". Niice. Easy-peasy. So is he going on the road for the brand? Will Kap selling t-shirts of "I'm with Kap" conflict with Nike's t-shirts? Maybe they can collaborate? The possibilities
I'm thinking a little further back in history, you know when Dr. King marched from Selma to Montgomery there were quite a few critics who were angry about the bold nature of the marches, they felt it was too disruptive and incendiary. If Dr. King and the other's like him had been quiet and polite, civil rights in this country would still be a pipe dream.
I can disagree with it because Colin needs to eat doesn't he? No teams are giving him a shot so why can't he make a living as a Nike pitchman. Jason Whitlock is implying that Colin gave up a career as a low tier starting QB or career backup (which could have earned him at least $3 million per year) for the off chance that Nike would pay him. That doesn't make sense to me.
The man has enough money to eat, lol. Besides, he supports Marxism. Why does he need millions? Speaking of (making) millions, why is the Nike ad all about Colin and not about police brutality? What has Colin done other than donate money to various causes and go visit the Dakota Pipeline to declare solidarity with the Native Americans? Has he gone on the road to speak against police brutality against Black people? Is he on TV spreading the message? Activism is a full time job. What does he do every day? What has he actually done, other than sue the NFL for income he turned down, sign a "Just Do It" commemorative deal with Nike (who btw, exploit kids in sweat shops) and file a copyright patent to sell "I'm wirh Kap" merchandise. What a great country America is. God Bless her.
Its only people saying things now. Regardless, in most of their eyes it was seen as a sacrifice. Had he been completely broke and Nike dropped him, it wouldve been more of "he sacrificed everything like an idoit. Now hes no longer making millions". What were the conditions of the other QB position offers? Would he still be able to kneel? Was he being lowballed on the offers? And i'm assuming by the slave comments made to Ray by CKs girlfriend, it was Ray Lewis? If so, I 100 percent agree with her calling him that. Ray Lewis spouts a bunch of plantation talk. He knows better than to get outta pocket after being given a second chance after the while murder rap. He knows how fast non blacks will throw him under the bus. What does CKs girls comments have to do with police brutality? Nothing directly. Indirectly, it addresses it through Ray Lewis' mindset with his "what about black on black crime? What about Chicago?" Talk. His "why are we worried about police when we should be worried about ourselves" talk. It his "we need to look to god" like some old school negro from the church. Its him getting his ass on TV with his fake trembling Baptist church reverend voice and saying "slavery was about togetherness". You're white, it doesnt affect you like that. When a black person sits in TV and says all the shit that Ray Lewis said about the CK and the movement, you really think CKs black girlfriend isn't to say anything about it? Ray's ass was looking nervous as fuck sitting next to Randy Moss a few weeks back with that tie speaking on police brutality. His heart was damn near beating out his asshole. Didnt want Randy to upset the white folks.
Society only wants the passive blacks. If we're gonna speak out on something, we have to do it as non threatening as possible and take any ass whooping while saying "non violence".
Bizzare. Nike have Colin as the 30 year anniversary face of "Just do it". Ironically, the Ad Campaign was born after the Ad exec at Nike saw serial-killer Gary Gilmore ask them to "just do it" at his execution. Nike is just plain weird.
Oh yeah, not to mention Ray Lewis' hypothetical proposed punishment for gun violations had he ever have the chance to serve in office. Basically applied what white politicians did with drug laws to gun violations. "25 years mandatory".....
Did you edit your comment about his girlfriend? I thought you mentioned she was black but it's not there anymore. She's Egyptian.
What an endorsement. #MurderousDictator #GaymenKiller #HolocaustDenier #OpressorOfMillions #AmericaHater
I'm specifically talking about the line in Whitlock's tweet where he says "Revolutionaries aren't sponsored by major corporations". I don't know how anybody can argue against that.
I'm curious. Given the clear implication of your post, do you think Donald Trump is responsible for the white supremacists who endorse him on social media? What if he refuses to explicitly disavow them?
You can bet that MLK had high roller endorsers in the 1960s that kept his foot soldiers and family out of poverty. Having benefactors and sponsors when you're on the front lines of civil rights battles is not necessarily a bad thing. Anyway, 2/3 of NIKE's customers are 35 and younger. For this generation Kaepernick is a millennial Nelson Mandela.
