    Funny thing about it is that most of the shit I know about the NRA is from you and Good Love talking about them. Before that I knew little to nothing about them. Thanks for making them relevant on wwbm.com

    The reality is the Founding Fathers and leading Colonial thinkers from the 18th century were against the idea of a professional army, in part because of economic and ideological reasons.

    We don't defend our national interests with militias anymore. The right to bear arms for the Founding Fathers was directly linked to the idea of a well armed militia, the crux of the Colonial army.

    The 2nd Amendment is outdated IMO.

    Those quotes are all over the place. Quotations don't add legitimacy to your point. I could find an equal number of citations of those who had the opposite point of view.
    People throw around the names of the architects of the Declaration of Independence like they were the 12 Apostles. They were just men, some of them brilliant, but hardly infallible.
    Just because Thomas Jefferson said something doesn't mean he's beyond reproach.
    So you're a a proponent of high capacity clips..for 'self defense', I assume against that theoretical gang of ten you might be attacked by in your own home.

    What about silencers?? Should those be legal for gunowners to buy too?? There are hunting applications actually for some silencers, but that's not their primary purpose.

    I just don't like guns man. I'm not trying to take someone else's away, but I would like there to be more restricted access for them.

    You're so fond of quoting Jefferson, I'll give you one carved on his memorial;

    "...as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors."

    The 2nd Amendment is over 200 years old and had everything to do with preserving the right to form militias, not private gun ownership. It's time IMO this Amendment was updated.

    Dude you are just plain full of shit. I showed you quotes where they said that the right to bear arms was not only for a militia but a tool to keep government honest.
    I personally dont give a shit about the founding fathers but you felt it was worth mentioning them when it suited your agenda and now that it doesnt you want to turn tail.
    I will let you in on a secret I absolutely fucking hate guns. I hatw the idea that their are things out there that can snuff out life with the squeeze of a trigger. It breeds cowardice and desperation but the unfortunate reality is they exist and have become a necesseray evil. My hatred and dislike of guns will not make them disappear, if my disdain were so powerful we would all live free of the threat of small men who seek to oppress and enslave us with fear and tyranny. Unfortunately thats not how it is. We libe in a world where good men and women have to accept they too might have to on day become monsters to protect themselves against even bigger ones.

    AGREE 100%!

    Gun owners are not monolithic thinkers, despite the insistence by those who hate guns...and gun owners. We come from ALL WALKS OF LIFE, and exist in every corner of the WORLD.

    hey ted-nugent-wannabe-glen-beck-mofo.

    ===========================================

    God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
    The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
    wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
    they misconceive.
    If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
    it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
    And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
    warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
    resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
    to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
    in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
    time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
    It is its natural manure."

    =======================================================

    more of the quote....from jefferson...

    get the facts.....tyrants and patriots will fight.....the tree of liberty must be refreshed (looked at again from time to time).

    liberty does mean freedom. citizen having protection from another citizen is the situation in our discussion without trouncing the liberties of another. not citizen to protection from govt.

    you guys dont give a rats ass about another persons life as long as you feel warm and fuzzie inside
