Do you prefer a full screen forum or the way it is now?

I'm not a fan of the full-screen either.

OK, the database migration to the new forum will take place (hopefully) over the next 24 hours. During this time both forums will be down for approximately 3 to 5 hours -- provided everything goes as planned.

Sorry that I cannot give you an exact time frame.

Steps:

* Prep new forum.
* Disable this forum.
* Start migration.
* Test new forum.
* Configure settings.
* Update menu links.
* Reinstall chat (I may do this while the new forum is online).
* Fix or remove broken hyperlinks linking to the old forum.
* Debug, with your help.

:!: The only thing you (registered members) will have to do once you see the new forum is to log into your profile and make sure all your settings are correct, as well as update any new fields (like your birthday).

:!: Those of you who access this forum directly (not through the menus) should be aware that the link to the forum will change.

:!: If disaster strikes after the new forum is up and running for a while, then there is a possibility that the site could revert back to this forum if the problem cannot be resolved. If that happens then all new posts and signups on the new forum will be lost.

I couldn't get the avatars/photos transferred over after three migration attempts. So, everyone will have to re-add their avatar or photo.

You also have the option of adding "friends" in your profile. You can check out my profile to see an example.

Feel free to test against my account with reputation points, friends, etc. if you'd like to see what it looks like in my profile or in your own profile.

Also, please point out any bugs, problems, or suggestions here or in the "Bug Report" section.

Thanks.

Is your signature not showing up in new posts that you created since creating the signature? Apparently vBulletin does not add it to former posts.

Will we still be able to embed youtube videos into our posts like before? (that was a really cool feature!)

Why, what don't you like about it? The functionality or the layout? (specifics if possible)

A lot of stuff can be changed.

Yes, I came across how to do it for this forum when I was searching to add the option to the last forum. Coming soon.

You should be able to embed YouTube videos now. The option is in the menu. The format is like this:

It the YouTube link is -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw3dLtjdXcc

Then you cut and paste everything after the equal sign (Vw3dLtjdXcc) and paste it between the these two tags

You can select the YouTube icon from the menu to see the tags.

Me either. It's a lot harder to Navigate than before. Now i have to click, click, click to get stuff to work right, whereas before everything was pretty straight forward.

No, it was moved to the top of the forum to make it more prominent and able to be addressed. So now you have have two. :)

The way to get from "The new board is horrible" to "I love this new board so much and I can't live without it" is to make suggestions.

I think the new forum is great.

Just some minor adjustments and people will have no complaints.

I understand that all the small buttons and smilies aren't completely back in order but I'm sure they will be in no ttime.

First thing it needs is that full screen instead of "squished screen".

The font and everything else will appear larger and easier to read.

Second is the color scheme. It needs some tweaking to be more interesting like I mentioned in reference to weedtracker.com and bimmerpost.com. Both of those sites have great layouts. Their original colors havent changed but the layouts and extra graphics make it very pleasurable.

Have you checked those sites out Webmaster?

Smilies have been fixed.

Instead of full screen (fixed width won the vote count) I compromised and expanded from 750 px to 960 px.

Color scheme I am going to take a look at.

I did look at bimmerpost.com (I own a BMW).

I just looked at weedtracker.com (did not know they were talking about that kind of weed :)) and I love the customization they did with vbulletin.

On this site, the forum look will be influenced by the dating software that is soon to be added.
