About Tynisha Keli Just a girl who came from nothing trying to make her way. Tynisha Keli comes from a very poverty stricken home and struggled most of her life... "I caught a break when i was 14 just to come to LA and struggle in a different way... i was now in another world at 14 but with no family or friends...Even though it was rough I found a way to make it work cause I had never wanted something so bad! "Tynisha signed to MCA Records (age 15) in a girls group. "From the beginning i knew it wasn't for me. As time went on I wanted to branch out and try it on my own. So I signed to a production company then signed to Warner Brothers Records and began recording the solo album. Something just wasn't fittin' I wasn't content with what we had. I grew up a little more, started to change mentally, physically and spiritually so decided to change the route of the album. I released the production company and started to work with different producers that i thought fit the criteria of what i was searching for. Producers such as Brian Michael Cox, Justice League, Tha Corna Boyz, Robin Thicke, Co- Stars and so many more... Now that i'm almost there, so close i swear i can taste it, I realize that in the end your dreams do come true if you don't give up on them no matter how hard it gets." Bullshit. Robin Thicke, Jojo, Joss Stone and Justin Timberlake get their tunes played on urban radio. Shit, even Gwen Stefani gets played by black radio and she can't hold a tune with Robin Thicke.
I hope she is not another whitegirl to turn R&B into bubble gum music. Justin timberlake did it, gwen stefani does it at times, jojo does it and christina aguilera at times and many others. To me being a big fan of R&B they butcher it. Don't know what the hell they doing. I'll take my white people doing R&B robin thicke style and teena marie style  . No thank you to those who be butchering it.
Baloney. Robin Thicke got non-stop airplay. Joss Stone got very limited airplay. And all the black ladies in my office (who were tuning into the urban radio stations) kept complaining during the few times Stone' song was played. Timbalake also doesn't get that much air play on hard core urban radio stations that target almost exclusively an African American audience. He is likley to get play though on these new type of stations that target a larger white audience (mixed but mostly white) with a mostly R&B playlist. To get a true idea of who gets airplay on the hard core urban radio stations just check out Billboard magazine. Thicke was much more prevalent on the lists for urban radio play than Timberlake who is mostly grouped into the "pop" category.
Well, I wouldn't put Christina Aguilera or JoJo in that category because they have very good voices, kinda like Mariah Carey. However, Gwen Stefani and Justin timberlake are butchering R&B.
I didn't say anything about their voices pat, I said the style in which they put it in at times can be butchering R&B.
These days black artists butcher R&B more than anyone else. Especially the slew of talentless divas who are given record deals for their light skin, light eyes and long (at times) fake hair. A Patti LaBelle coming along today would not get much publicity because she doesn't "look the part" if you get my drift. Her talent would be irrevelant. R&B peaked probably in the 60s or 70s. Or maybe I should say soul music peaked then because I still consider R&B to be the stuff you heard back in the 50s which inspired the formation of rock n' roll. Wake me up concerning R & B/soul music when BLACK MALE SINGERS become far more common than they are now. When the music industry is looking for the next Marvin Gaye (or even someone like Maxwell) as much as they are for the next Beyonce clone (no offense to Beyonce....it ain't her fault). Fuck Robin Thicke because the VH-1s of the world give him more play tha they would for any black male soul singer worth his salt. To Thicke's credit he has acknowledge the advantages he gets in some corners because of his skin color and he deserves props for speaking about that to the media. But fuck him nonetheless. When the country music record industry and the country radio stations ALLOW a black man (by giving him access) to be a successful romantic crooner then and only then will I feel the system is fair. But excuse me for not jumping up an down when Thicke gets the pub and play that some black male singers (who are also good writers) never get a chane to make a name for themselves. By the way Stefani is not trying to do R&B/soul music. Her aim is the pop charts and she uses current so-called black music styles to add "flavor" to her songs. The black producers she works with are more than happy to oblige and produce material for her (wish many of them were interested in finding the next great black ale singer instead). Yet she's not trying to cross over into the urban market. Instead she is doing what white musicians have done since the time of jazz...bring a black form/style of music to a larger mainstream (read white) audience. Jo Jo is mostly courting a pop audience too. As is Christina. The only one that openly courts urban radio (going to actual R&B stations and tourning with black opening acts or with black singers such as John Legend) is Joss Stone.
If Tynisha hooks up with a couple super-producers and gets some top-notch writers behind her music, she will do just fine.
Whiteman's world. We all know when a white man do black music he is going to get more props (by the media.) to attempt to bump out black men in music because their are some good ones out there (j. holiday, trey songz, tank, etc.) and they only attend to white women who do black music who keeps relationship with blackmen strictly business just compare fergie's fame to joss stone's fame. Anatsacia's fame to christina aguliera. And black women will always of course get the fame because whitemen love black women in the industry. Black man's music lives in a whiteman's world they will dictate how they want things to be and it's going to be like that, until like I said we get some of these black entertainers being more vocal and truthful or it will continue to be so. Our black entertainers are silent and some aint nothing but ass-kissers.
