Well, in two of it's newest shows (Heroes & Friday Night Lights) anyway. On Heroes it looks like Jessica has taken over Nikki and is in the process of hunting down DL and their son so no lovey-dovey from them for a while. And at the same time Peter is seen in the previews kissing on Simone once again :!:  I mean dayum, can the brotha get some love from his fine blonde wifey again BEFORE she kills him :?: :!:  On FNL looks like my boy Smash and Tyra are DONE...for now anyway 'cause they've got him doing the 'ROID THING  in order to impress the scouts for the big recruiting deal and hopefully make it to the pros eventually.
Thats a shame NBC has the most interracial couples on their network, but only takes it to the next level as long as it is a white man. Like ER for an example: The indian character Neela was married on the show to a brotha, but only two kissing scenes and for the rest of the time he was on there he got nothing. Then they kill him off bring on the white guy(John Stamos) They have an full out love scene and grabs the cover of tv guide magazine. On Heroes: You get morning scene with DL & Nikki/Jessica but no kissing or showing the action of what went on, but between Peter and Simone time after time they are kissing. On friday night lights: Smash got that one corny love scene with tyra but make her forget him real quick. While everyone else is getting crazy kissing scenes. On "My name is earl": Crabman & Joy only had one kissing scene and that was at their wedding which was at the beginning of last season. And every time they get in the mood on the show they don't show anything. Last night on the show they showed them going to bed and turning away from each other. And all of their soap operas feature all kinds of IR except........I don't even have to say it anymore you know where Im going with "except".
There is always be a double standard when it comes to network tv. I will never hold my breath. On cable,I wished IR would be more extensive.
 Great IR break down on NBC KG!!! You're absolutely right :!: And on cable thank goodness for Conrad on WEEDS dealing with Nancy & Celia over the course of the series. It's a great counter to Sanaa Lathan playing a HO' on Nips/Fuc.
I think that you're misinterpreting our recent posts. No one is denying anything about racist Hollyweird, nor being naive about Hollyweird's racism either, besides, these are just threads to pass the time with. Don't take them so literally.
Perhaps so. I barely even watch TV these days anyway so i don't even know about many of these things. I just do not see why i need some directors to show me things i know, by my own accord, happen.
But, is any of this really shocking??? Yes, NBC has more visible IR couples on, but lets be real. They've been number 3 in the ratings for the last few years. The IR is their way to bring in a novelty for a younger, broader audience who isn't so bothered by it. FNL, Heroes, earl. I only needed to see the first or second episodes of those shows to remind me that it's the same old tired stale race formula that they always use. Because they know that if they went full blown with those relationships that a sizable white audience would tune out. But I'm mostly disappointed in ER, my favorite show. Your description was dead on. They never developed Sharif Atkins character. And really just placed Neela with him because let's face it, they weren't going to give him one of the white nurses on that show. And remember, there was a short stint where he was infatuated with Leslie Bibb's character, but they put her with Kovac. Worst of all is how Stamos and Nagra even made the cover of TV Guide when the show had a controversy a few years ago involving Eric LaSalle not getting a cover. The cast members at the time stated that there would be no more ER covers after that. I guess producer Michael Crichton realized that the show needs all the coverage it can get these days.
Why see it as being a counter? Besides a ho is a ho yet one is uplifted and the other reviled simply because of skin color.
 I think some of the hype is because of John Stamos himself being that he's sort of a white dude heart throb I guess. I don't get a chance to watch it anymore but what happened to the brotha's Asian lady that was a doctor :?: Didn't she get killed off or what? Whatever happened, it figures they'd do something like that & end the relationship. :? I was speaking of in terms of black males being involved in IRRs on screen as opposed to the characters that they play themselves of which neither is exactly uplifting as one sells WEED :weedman: and the other sells COOCHIE :butthead: ... :!:
i never expected the friday night lights thing to be an extended storyline. you could tell by the way they wrote it that tyra was just acting out in that moment. she has such disdain for the players in general, i knew that wasn't going to last.
