Some of you might have heard of the hip-hop artist Nas. Next month, it is reported that his CD will be released, and the title will be called "N-----" (the actual n-word). He says that his songs in that CD are more graphic than the title of the CD. Some in the hip-hop industry support him in doing this. Here is my feeling on this. I used to listen to hip-hop, still listen to the old school stuff (except for the likes of N.W.A, 2 Live Crew, for obvious reasons). I just feel this CD will do far more harm than good. This is one of the reasons why I hate today's version of hip-hop.
Unfortunatly, it is up to the community and the buying public if they want to buy his CD. The N-word drama will not end inspite of the funerals proclaiming its "death".
The "n-word" will not go away anytime soon, even if the rappers didn't use it. People were casually using it LOOONG before rap records came out. Rap records didn't start using it until the late 80's. (NWA) Does the music perpetuate the use of the language? Possibly. Do violent movies perpetuate violent crimes? Possibly. Who do you wanna go after?
