Nas Confirms Amy Winehouse’s “Me and Mr. Jones” was about Him
October 6th, 2011 - By Veronica Wells
If you’re an Amy Winehouse fan you might have noticed that Amy’s “In My Bed” sampled the beat from Nas’ “Made You Look” . But now the rapper is claiming their connection might have been a little bit deeper than just a sample.
Rumors had been circulating that the song, “Me and Mr. Jones” was about Nas since 2006. But it wasn’t until recently that Nasir Jones acknowledged that he was the inspiration behind the song.
People have speculated that Winehouse may have had a crush on Nas back in the day… it certainly looks like it.

And in case you’re wondering what else the late Winehouse said in this dedication to Nasir, check out the lyrics below.
"Me and Mr Jones"
Nobody stands in between me and my man, it’s me
And Mr Jones (Me and Mr Jones)
What kind of f*ckery is this?
You made me miss the Slick Rick gig (oh Slick Rick)
You thought I didn’t love you when I did (when I did)
Can’t believe you played me out like that (Ahhh)
No you ain’t worth guest list
Plus one of all them girls you kiss (all them girls)
You can’t keep lying to yourself like this (to yourself)
Can’t believe you played yourself (out) like this
Rulers one thing but come Brixton
Nobody stands in between me and my man
‘Cause it’s me and Mr Jones (Me and Mr Jones)
What kind of f*ckery are we?
Nowadays you don’t mean d*ck to me (d*ck to me)
I might let you make it up to me (make it up)
Who’s playing Saturday?
What kind of f*ckery are you?
Side from Sammy you’re my best black Jew
But I could swear that we were through (we were through)
I still want to wonder ’bout the things you do
Mr Destiny 9 and 14
Nobody stands in between me and my man
‘Cause it’s Me and Mr Jones (Me and Mr Jones)

“I don’t really remember if Salaam, who was really close to her, who introduced us, if he told me about it or not,” Nas told XXL. “I don’t remember right now. But, I heard a lot about it before I even heard the song.”
In the song Winehouse says, “Mr Destiny 9 and 14.” Turns out that Winehouse and Jones shared a birthday (September 14th) which is referenced in the song and Nas’ daughter is named Destiny… You’ll have to help us out with the Destiny part.
