I agree wholeheartedly with this statement, the book held such promise and really could have been a fabulous movie, I loved the book so much I bought it twice after I lost the 1st copy.

Another Book that could have been a great movie Was Jodi Picolt's (My Sisters Keeper) I was very annoyed that they changed the ending, they swapped around the Deaths WHY? WHY? that was what made the book semi decent the unexspected ending.

I haven't seen My Sister's Keeper but I've read the book and heard about them mixing up the ending. WHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYY? That was the whole POINT of the book!!! The entire story led up to that very ending. Switching the deaths around MAKES NO SENSE! Fuck Hollywood!!

And I share your sentiments regarding Time Traveler's. Beautiful, unique, captivating book. Weak, corny, surfaced movie. Lame.

 

Reading this one at the moment. Only a couple of chapters in, but so far so good!!

 

I'm sure that there is probably a thread out there. You may just need to find it and bump it.

Ok, I'm halfway thru Gerald's Game and halfway to losing my mind! This book is crazy!!!!!

I want to put the book down, but I want to see what happens to Jessie!

 

I don't want to dissapoint you, but it kinda flakes at the end, I really want to elaborate, but don't want to ruin it for you, plus it's been ages since I read that S K novel I just remember thinking all that build up with the guy in the corner then.............

I like Clive Cussler novels (most of them anyway), and I just finished reading "Atlantis Found". I loved it. Great book. I needed me some Dirk Pitt.

Now, I'm reading another Clive Cussler book, "Blue Gold". I'm not far along right now though.

 

I know I mess with you from time to time, but I do like how you roll on occasion.:smt111 I find myself looking at books like that too. It's like appreciating a fine art, and does not necessarily mean you're going to go around bullying people. One of my coworkers used to let me check out one of his books from Bruce Lee, and another book on Muay Thai. Interesting reads.

As for the military and hand-to-hand training, the UFC has entered some sort of partnership with the USMC, and shows them during fight nights. Granted a gun is like your wife on the ground, there is still that chance that you will need to know how to defend yourself in a fist fight. It's all part of the Warrior attitude.

 

Thank you for the kind thought. Yes, one has to have an appreciation for human expression in the combative arts. For me that appreciation is twofold in the groundings of traditional and in the non-traditional martial arts. In the five years since i have started my life has changed on so many levels. I'm a voracious reader of anything i can get my hands on in books. It stimulates my thinking as it has yours. Let me recommend a site for you to explore combative martial arts readings. Go to paladin-press.com for some interesting approaches in self-defense. A true martial artists must have the Warrior attitude as you said. I will say this I'm just beginning to find a greater appreciation for the military martial arts in realistic combat training. This knowledge must never be abused or used. That is why i have the deepest respect for the military warrior who have such devastating power to destroy, yet they never misuse their knowledge. I salute them.
