My Student Film I Directed...Wrote...Edited...and Co-Star In

It's called Black & White. I went to a film and television school for aspiring actors and directors here in NYC this past year and even though I did not enjoy it and will not be going back in the fall, I DID write and direct a film. (The school is also ridiculously expensive and I prefer to just go on auditions and get experience).

I am still learning and new to it all so if my acting isn't the best don't laugh too hard lol. In fact everyone in the film are acting students like me and friends of mine at the school. This was shot from Feb to April 2008. I play a small role in it. It's about relationships, cheating, abortion, suicide, hook ups, trust, lies, just love and life in general. I am editing it right now and it should be done in a few days or so.

I went through HELL making this thing. The script went through about 10 different revisions as cast members (aka my fellow students and classmates) kept quitting on me and leaving the project so i had to ONCE AGAIN re-write the story for new characters. My director of photography (the cinematographer, aka camera person who controls the lighting and sh!t) quit on me and left the school before I ever started filming and totally bailed on me!

Alot of footage (which was MUCH better put together than what you will end up seeing) was deleted when my editor (a professional WAY better than me, I started editing this week lol) had a virus on his computer that wiped away everything. I've never been so pissed. Then I had to start all over and re-shoot the film and he QUITS on me saying he didnt feel like doing it anymore. A$$hole!!!

Anyway, i took what I had and mish mashed it together to make some sort of story so if things are confusing Im sorry. I'll try and explain the subtleties and nuances if you all have any questions after I post the video of the film. It's about 30 minutes long. There's romance, sex, humor, drama, everything...I hope you all like it.

Where's a direct link to it as opposed to the stills?I'd love to see it.There are a couple of filmmakers on this forum.

 

I am not finished editing the film yet. I gotta add the music and put everything together. It should be done in a few days. When its done I'll give everyone the link to watch it.

Playboy90210,thanks for putting a effort in making a film on IR. I commend you and I look forward of seeing it. It is better than complaining to Hollywood.

(P.S. It's about 25 minutes long so grab a snack lol....and if the audio keeps messing up or doesnt look in sync with the video just play around with the time scroll bar thingy & then reposition it to the part of the movie you were watching and it should fix itself...or just pause it for a while then press play again...I dunno why its doing that)

It's curious that you call a color film "Black or White". Just kidding. Your intent is understood.

As you know, low or "no" budget films can try even the most patient of us who enjoy such movies. But I found quite a bit to enjoy. I won't go over it one by one but once my confusion was cleared towards the end, I found myself with one of those "hmm, that was pretty good" sort of faces.

While clocking in at only 25 minutes, I found myself checking the time only once which is good. I check the time frequently when I watch movies in the theater so you're not the only director who's been subjected to this treatment.

Over all, I found it interesting to watch.

If this is your first, I think it's decent start. But if you don't plan to do any other film projects, lock it in the vault.
