    It's something that I've grown to love over the years, especially since my tastes in music was a bit hard to define beyond simplicity. I'm generally interested in this sort of music, mainly out of a sense of empowerment. Does it seem too unorthodox for someone like myself to appreciate and such music as my primary tastes?

    I'm primarily speaking from the standpoint that generally you'd find black guys mainly listen to hip-hop, rap, r&b, gospel, etc..., although we tend to vary in tastes, but as primary choices in music, I'm considered very unusual. But, my beginnings behind it were years of slow development.

    In my high school years, I've always listened to film scores, especially the music of composer John Williams. He helped get me through high school and other paths in my life. Then I discovered the genius of Jerry Goldsmith, the brilliance of John Barry. Then came James Horner and Michael Kamen. I had also discovered composers from the past like Alfred Newman, Bernard Hermann, Miklos Rosza, Bronislau Paper, Riz Ortolani, Franz Waxman, Ron Goodwin and many, many more past, present and future.

    I like.... everything. My boyfriend... very into hip hop lol.

    But the last time we were in the car, and I played AC/DC he was surprised that there was such an "oomph" to the beat in some of the songs. Since I like it all, it's easy enough to let him play his songs most of the time. If I really want to listen to my music, because i have certain songs stuck in my head, he wouldn't complain.

    Besides, I'm the one insured on my car, it's easier for him to play his music, riding shotgun :p

    I honestly couldn't take a woman seriously if she was a massive Elvis fan. I have nothing against him but rather against the legacy he has an the fact that he wouldn't have been a tenth as popular had America had just accepted the Black artists that were making that very same style of music before he did. Now that I have played the race card for once back to the topic.

    I like;

    Jimi Hendrix, Coldplay, Joe, Jose Gonzalez, Blues, Neo Soul, R'n'B, Hip Hop, a bit of Classical, Dancehall and Ragga, Reggae, Chill Out, a bit of Trance, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chli Peppers, John Frusciante, Funky House, Linkin Park, Nothing Else Matters by Metallica is 1 of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SONGS!!, Rodrigo and Gabriella, UK Garage, Drum n Bass and whatever else takes my fancy.

    I'm not a big AC/DC fan mainly because of the crowd that typically is, but most music lovers would be surprised to learn that the 'satanic' hard rock group is just a really bluesy rock and roll band.

    Their early shit from the late '70s is very listenable IMO.

    I've never had the exact same music tastes of any woman I've been involved with.

    If we have one or two groups or a handful of songs we both like, it's a win.

    Absolutely not a deal-breaker. I love all kinds of music and like to believe I'm open-minded. Hell I listen to some obscure stuff. But I will confess if it came down to it I'm voting off the island the dude who doesn't "get" hip hop

    Aww, :freehug:thank you, not sure if I have much interesting things to say or talk about as compared to some of the well known and beautiful popular posters on here, you seem to be one of the few who notice my posts. Maybe I'll see where else I might be able to contribute, hopefully I am at least established as not a troll, I know sometimes lesser known posters get some suspicion.

    I love multiple kinds of music. But, yes, it can be a deal breaker if they don't like my music or listen to things I don't like.

    Type of music should never be a deal breaker. There are more important issues that need to be addressed
