THIS time, it's gonna be a sitcom featuring the gang.. Yep, you heard it right...in the grand trtadition of "Seinfeld" & "Everybody Loves Raymond" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/06/star-wars-animated-sitcom_n_527224.html ENOUGH, al-friggin'-ready!!!!!! Lucas has milked this gig for MORE than all it's worth, if you ask me.. As much as I *still* dig "Star Wars" (The original three [Parts IV, V & VI], for sure) I am of the opinion that, well, if Steven Speilberg tried to do sequels & spinoffs after ONE major success...E.T., the grand return; Son of E.T., you get the idea....his carrer would have folded at that point. Hey, George, isn't it about time you tried to show some VERSATILITY here? How 'bout making a Western? Or even a Cop show? IMHO, I think that George Lucas SERIOUSLY needs to have a rest... A *LONG* rest! OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
Rumor has it he's working on a new live action television show as well. Maybe this animated comic show will try to explain some of the lore had in the books and comics some more, filling in some gaps and fleshing out the storylines of the main characters. Between the two I have to say I'm more excited about the live action tv show. Hopefully it will go well!
i'm with you. i'm a huge fan of IV, V & VI. he lost me at I and i haven't recovered since...it's time for him to move on for sure.
okay, the third was the better one out of the latest three released, but in my opinion he went overboard with the graphics in I, II & III and i think that's where he lost me...that and ja ja binks. i was completely mortified when he went back and started tinkering with the original three...unnecessary imo as they were already perfect the way they were. the cartoon series is okay. my kids are hooked on it, but i can take it or leave it to be honest. guess i'm a gal who loves her classics.
When I went to the last(?) movie, Part III, I felt as if I were standing in line with fellow workers at a humdrum, low-paying, dead end, pain-in-the-ass job...with timecard in hand, waiting to punch in...and then get the 8 hours of drudgery over & done with.. I *sorely* felt like that...though I was glad to finally see 'how we got there' (i.e. to the opening of "Part IV: A NEW HOPE"). The mechanics of getting there, however, was just one big yawn... At least Jar Jar Binks kept his goddamn mouth shut during that LAST one! OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
I'm with MDB, the prequel trilogy was exhausting and overdone. I would have liked to have a seen a more political story of the rise of the Empire (Why are Imperials all human yet the Rebels have aliens in their ranks? Why is there anti-droid racism?) I was also really disappointed with the reveal that all the Imperial Stormtroopers were clones under the helmet. So if you're on a backwards planet and want to see the galaxy I guess you have to have the Force in you or some shit, but what about the everyday guys? I used to think they signed up for the Troopers like the Army, just to get out. But no they're all clones. It's also kind of stupid that with the size of the galaxy it always comes down to the same 5-6 people, Vader, Luke, Boba Fett, etc. That having been said "Clone Wars" OK, it's more a new-school thing for the kids, but knowing what Anakin is gonna turn into is a real downer. How can you root for him if you know he's gonna kill all the Jedi, betray Obi-Wan and turn into Vader? Woo-hoo, let me tune in.
I wonder why Lucas as virtually disavowed all of the Expanded-Universe novels, insisting that only the first and second trilogy is the "true story", and everything else is, effectively, apocryphal.. I would have liked to see some post-Jedi novels adapted, with the older cast before they became outright elderly.. Lucas could self-finance and hire a director for the film(s)..
Never saw any of the Star Wars movies. Please don't tell me I am the only one on the planet as my friends already have said that. Doubt I will watch the animated.
You guys, please be patient. With him being around, he still have that control over his franchise. When that day come, that he's no longer with us, THAT will give this a proper revival of Star Wars that most fans have been awaited for so long! Did you guys see star wars trailer that was released last summer? It blows my mind away..it give many fans a real hope that with him being gone, new story will rise from that cold, hard surface, ready to tell brand new story that most of us will enjoy for long time to come. For now, we have to be patient that loser! He's the stupidest creature ever walked on the earth. I, for one, truly can't understand the large scale of his brain! You know what's so damn funny? I was on a different forum, blowing off my angry steam about this sitcom that he planned on to working on his project, I told them that it's same story all over again and again! Damn it, I will be ready once a proper revival of Star Wars to coming up in the future..now that's something!
I say bring back Luke Skywalker (minus Mark Hamill...the guy's like 70 now) and the Jedi Academy canon, where he has a Jedi school (imagine a new-age kung-fu temple) Either that or do something along the lines of 'Republic Commando,' with plenty of laser pew-pew and b00ms.
