Missed opportunity. Kicking myself in the butt because of it

I was coming out of the store yesterday, and caught the eye of a good-looking young woman as I was approaching her. It caught me by surprise, and I froze. After I passed her I kept telling myself to turn around and introduce myself, but I didn't. Not only did I kick myself in the a.. on the way home because of this, but I lost a few ZZZs thinking about it. Do you ladies feel like we do like: "damn." "I wish that guy would have talked to me?" It sucks when someone that you think is attractive catches you off guard like that. It's almost like you always have to keep your guard up.

Your problem isn't keeping your guard up, it's letting it down long enough to acknowledge interest from another party. There probably won't be another chance for you, but if there is . . .

I've felt that way a lot, though it's more of "damn girl, you should've talked to him instead of being so shy that you waited on his slow ass to make a move"

But then there's always the "oh you idiot, he was so flirting with you and you couldn't even show how interested you were?!"

I'm horrible at dating, cause I'm not good at being open about how attracted I am to someone. Fear of rejection, I guess. I've missed out on some (supposedly) decent guys because of it. But ah well.

This thread reminds me of the section on craigslist entitled "missed connections" where people post an ad hoping that someone they missed or hoped for an opportunity with will read and respond. Hoping for a connection. Sadly, my city's craigslist has a ton of these sort of ads. Like satyricon wrote, if people let their guard down long enough to acknoweldge interest from another party, there wouldn't be so many people searching for that missed connection.
