Everything is good brother, Los Angeles is a blessed city but I've actually been trying to get in touch with my Louisiana roots. There are A LOT of black people from Shreveport and New Orleans out west. Creole restaurants that serve po' boys. You'd be surprised.
Wait a minute...you never told me you're from Louisiana. And...I'm not TOO surprised that many of them, especially from New Orleans migrated to LA. Lots of opportunities and lots of issues. By the way, you may have seen my sister somewhere there. I'm sure you might recognize her.
No I'm from here but my mother's family is from Louisiana. My aunt made a huge pot of gumbo a few weeks ago, and it was so damn good that it made me think of how important the past can be. Keep in mind that I generally disdain tradition, but the value is real to me. Your sister?
Not all traditions are bad. In this case, the southern roots in southern cuisine is a reminder of that. I personally don't care too much about gumbo and what have you, but I do appreciate the way how people preserve that. And yes, my sister. She's in LA actually. I know it's a big place. However, she tends to be the kind of person who likes to travel and get around. Twisted history between us, but that's another story. Anyway, here's a clip of her on a game show called Without Prejudice.
