    WOW!

    Fantastic movie!

    Has anyone seen it yet?

"Miracle at St. Anna follows four black soldiers of the all-black 92nd Infantry Division who get trapped near a small Tuscan village on the Gothic Line during the Italian Campaign of World War II after one of them risks his life to save an Italian boy.

The story is inspired by the August 1944 Sant'Anna di Stazzema massacre perpetrated by the Waffen-SS in retaliation to Italian partisan activity. There is also a reference to a sculpted head from Ponte Santa Trinita in Florence that acts as a plot device."

No one saw it because it bombed so bad it got pull quickly from theaters. It was panned by critics. And many of those critics were black movie reviewers who I truly respect. Even a couple of my black friends who did see it didn't care for it. And that's a shame too because I wanted this movie to be great. I will see it eventually and judge myself but I go back to what I wrote months ago: Lee nedded to spend less time picking pointless fights with other celebs and more time trying to make the greatest film he possibly could.

I'm not sure why people would consider this movie a failure. :smt017

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life.( I've seen A LOT of movies).

Its definitely a Spike Lee classic.

For those who haven't seen it, go check it out!!!!

I had mentioned that flick months back. What took you so long?

I didn't see the movie when it came out at the theatres, initially.

I wanted to, but then forgot about it, and later realized its out after a few weeks.

Then I saw it at the "$1 movies" and jumped on the opportunity.

It was about 2 weeks ago that I actually saw the flick.

    Simply amazing!

I'd give it a B, IMO, the subplot with the Italian partisans runs a little long, and the epilogue resolution of another subplot is kind of abrupt.. but I think the overall narrative holds up.. and yeah, the woman who is torn between the two soldiers is sweet.. :smt054

..To me, Spike has more than earned the right to make his "epics", the line isn't that long for black filmmakers to even get the chance to tell stories like this.. Touchstone films only came on board after production, it was mostly foreign-financed (hence, I suspect, the more-generous attention given to the Italian locals in the plot)

It should be on dvd in February, Black History Month.. hopefully a nice box set..
