if you're asking yourself why he's being punished, it's because even tho he may not have been directly responsible for the creation of such porn, viewing it allows for the proliferation of it and further attempts at exploiting children. With that said, I think they would cut him slack if he gave up the actual source of the pornography. He would definitely be branded for life either way, but to solve this kind of problem, you need to attack the source. Nickel and diming the viewers wouldn't be efficient.

he was only viewing (yes im playing devil's advocate) and not actually holding the camera..although some more may come out of this case as time goes

im just curious as to how viewing child porn grants harsher treatment than say, someone selling drugs and slowly ruining the lives of dozens if not hundreds of people.
