And this reason is why no one wants to listen. No one is here to be preached to by anyone about anything. Sharing your views & opinions, all fair game. Once it becomes clear you're here in an attempt to convert others to your way of thinking & viewing the world, you're now trying to squeeze water out of a rock.

I've started this post several times in an attempt to articulate properly the point that I want to make and the emotion I feel. I speak for myself, but I know from comments some have made to me privately, that I'm not alone in my thinking.

Part of the outrage over how this topic was handled is due to the fact that some forget that half the audience on this forum is white, therefore, we are part of the "problem", albeit indirectly. Most of the injustices agains BP are committed by WP. I think we would all agree that it is incredibly unfair and sad, that a white mother's abduction makes national headlines while a black mother's may not make it past her hometown newspaper. But it's a slam to the women here when topics such as this are presented in a sarcastic way.

I agree that the underlying topic is one to be discussed. But how it is discussed is the issue. I am not one to tell a black man or woman not to be angry or frustrated or to forget the past and get over it. Largely because it's not just in the past - injustice exists in the here and now, as this situation demonstrates. But the women here are part of the solution. We choose to date, marry and love black men. We can't empathize but we sympathize with you. So when things are presented in the manner that this thread was, and when things are discussed as they are in the discourse above, with barely concealed contempt, that's a slap in the face to the women of this forum.

    Indeed.

I think TDK has some valid points. What I think is a sensitive issue, is that the "fuel for debate" are the sensitive issues themselves. Also the timing, no one wants hear about racially charged issues when the issue is ongoing. TDk did express empathy and sympathy, he said he hopes he girl is ok, but for some, that doesn't change the fact that the racial disparity exists. When? Where? How? would you broach he subject that TDK is pointing out, so as not to be insensitive at all those that don't agree?

Personally, I think TDK's timing was off a bit, maybe in a few days or few weeks, but not while the initial occurrence is happening. The tile I never saw, but it never helps to be insensitive and overly sarcastic with a situation such as this one.

    +100 Chesbaygrl7!!

Communication is incumbent on the one doing the speaking, NOT the listener. So if I the listener of reasonable intelligence miss YOUR message, that problem is on YOU, not me.

How someone says something is just as important as what they're saying.
This thread topic was a textbook lesson in poor execution.

THeoretically we aren't all strangers; this is supposed to be a community.
Demonizing or vilifying ALL White women, unintentionally or not, for how they're portrayed in the media, no fault of their own, is absolutely wrong.

That may not have been TDK's intent, but when I read his early posts in this thread, what I heard was him blaming this victimized White woman for her own media coverage.:|

The problem isn't that the plight of WW who are victims of violent crimes or abductions is given priority in the media; what's wrong is that so few women from other minority groups are afforded that same coverage.

    Don't blame the victim.

I do recognize the role that the white woman plays in this forum. I don't know how TDk, or any other black man on this site feels, but my sentiment is this:

You are our women, you are apart of us, an extension of myself now. An egregious act against me, is against you as well. I know Ches, you are saying that these comments are going against you. I know your white, so your automatically connected with one side, and I'm black and I’m automatically connected to one side. This hard to explain, but bear with me. When I chose to engage with a white women, we become so much more than just white and black. Those "colors," fuel the beauty in this/that type of relationship, but again, we become so much more. Even in this cyber setting, we come together on this board, we are automatically on a higher plane. M problems yours, yours mine, and when I/we speak, it's from a stance that you already know (because you have chosen to enter into this higher plane).

If and when I have a partner, when someone calls her a cracker, they call me a cracker. I'll ride out for her as if I was white and someone called me a cracker. When there is a more complex issue such as this one, we will speak as one against the “wrong” party.

And this is how I feel as well. So I'm lead to think, perhaps those who make comments in a certain way also include us women as "one of the guys" so to speak. I will give the benefit of the doubt. They don't realize how the manner of speaking affects the audience.

    Or do they?

    This I don't know.

One of the guys no. Very friendly, yes, but definitely not one of the guys. There is way to much sexual innuendo, flirting, talking, wanking, rubbing on this forum to say we are best pals. I mean, tbear is my friend, and we can be friends forever, but I'm going to fuck my friend one of these days.

    very well stated Chesy,

people who try so hard to be the "pro-black man" go about hurting the people that are for/love them.

i said this before and people got mad.....you can be pro____(fill in the blank)___ and still have love for everyone. check you mouth before you open it. you do have to be cognizant of other peoples feelings.

I said this before and people got mad and now it is in our face and we are discussing it. thank goodness.

it is time we start being adults and realizing there are other people in the world besides you/me.

soon we will not have any ww here but just a bunch of BM jacking off to pics
