Just got a report that said that Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital and he was not breathing when paramedics arrived.

Wow.

Pop star Michael Jackson was rushed to a hospital this afternoon by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home around 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The parademics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told The Times.

The news comes as Jackson was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.

In May, The Times reported that Jackson was living in a Bel-Air mansion and rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London's O2 Arena. Jackson had won the backing of two billionaires to get the so-called "King of Pop" back on stage.

His backers envision the shows at AEG's O2 as an audition for a career rebirth that could ultimately encompass a three-year world tour, a new album, movies, a Graceland-like museum, musical revues in Las Vegas and Macau, and even a "Thriller" casino. Such a rebound could wipe out Jackson's massive debt.

Pop singer Michael Jackson was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital today in cardiac arrest, according to various online reports.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Devin Gales could not confirm the report, but said paramedics did respond to a home in the 100 block of Carolwood Drive at 12:21 p.m. on a medical call, and the person was taken to UCLA Medical Center.

LAFD Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times, however, that the 50- year-old singer was not breathing when paramedics arrived.

TMZ.com reported that Jackson was picked up at 12:21 p.m. at a Holmby Hills home, and paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.

Jackson's father, Joe, told E!Online that he was contacted in Las Vegas and was told his son had been taken to a hospital.

"His mother is on her way to the hospital now to check in on him," Joe Jackson said. "I am not sure what's wrong."

Jackson, 50, was in the midst of preparing for a series of concerts in London.

So many childhood memories are tied to Michael's music. I'm in shock right now.

I text my ex and he said "good". I text his back, "good?" He said, "yeah, he's a child molestor". He makes a good point.

However, I'm choosing to just remember him for his music right now.

RIP Michael, King of Pop. Your contributions to music will never be forgotten.

 

My father wouldn't let me listen to the Jackson 5 but I would go around the corner to my friend's house and we would sit in her room for hours listening to them. Then it was Michael as a solo artist. If you are of a certain age, MJ's music is like the soundtrack to your life. Regardless of his weirdness in his later years, he still seemed larger than life. My son and I were driving the other day listening to Billie Jean and my son remarked how much he liked that song and how talented Michael was. His private life may have been less than stellar (to put it mildly) but in his prime, damn, there was no body better or more talented.
