That was the show where he made a name for himself.

I've never even heard of True Blood.

Every time I look up at the tv, I see Taye Diggs (which is a good thing). If they're trying to "Taye Diggs" Mehcad Brooks, it'll probably be the best thing that ever happened to his career.

Aside from his continuously canceled TV shows and backlash from BW, Taye Diggs is rather successful.

Private Practice broke the curse. Most of the cast were refugees from cancelled shows.

The saving grace with that show is that he isn't starring in it. Kate Walsh is.

Exactly. They spread the risk with that show by having it be a group.

And let's not forget how fine Kate is:

I don't know about sick, but they certainly come across as bitter. I'm curious if that's something that people observe less in the younger generation of BW, like the under 21 crowd? The reason I ask is because there are several young BW who attend the college my daughter goes to and they go out of their way to be friendly. I was telling her what some BW say about WW who date BM, like the wet dog comment, and she was shocked. According to her the BW she knows are never disrespectful or rude, it's the WW that she has a problem with. Now the subject of IR dating has never come up, but given the fact that the men she spends time with are predominately BM, I would assume they're aware that she dates IR. So just curious if that's something anyone else observed. Perhaps the younger generation sees more IR relationships and is therefore more accepting?

That's not just for young black women. Younger people (in general) are more accepting of things like IR.

You said she was shocked when you told her about some of the mean comments you've heard before like the "wet dog" one. She is still young, if she dates IR long enough she will hear them eventually.

Or perhaps they're talking behind her back :D

Well, first off I feel for the person who tells her she smells like a wet dog, she's got really low tolerance for idiots and a bit of a temper. But that aside, I had never heard that in my life until last week when IB posted the link in this thread. But I've also only had one BW ever give me crap for dating a BM, and even that was limited to giving me dirty looks and talking behind my back.

I actually wondered the same thing, but I was at her National Honor Society induction today and so I watched how everyone interacted out of curiosity, and I would judge them to be genuine. She's right the WW scowl at her, as did the mothers of the BW who she's friends with, but then women always scowl at women, or at least that's my experience. I'm not sure why that is, but I pretty much smile at everyone I see and men, no matter how pissed off or inattentive they appear to be, will always immediately smile back and most of the time they speak, and that's BM, WM, HM, AM. Women of all races above the age of about 25 are just hateful. I get the dirtiest looks from women, I smile, they frown and scrunch up their face. So apparently men are just friendlier than women, or all women think all other women are competition or something.

Yeah she's fine but on the show they got her screwing everybody except Taye's character & in real life she was married for only a year if that before she & her hubby broke up.

I think that's a compliment... yeah pretty sure that is.... so let me just say thank you for that Karma! :smt058

Though I'm not sure that's the correct explanation.

Yeah but don't get me wrong there are definately certain young bw that would give your daughter a hard time if they knew she dated BM. I'm probably only a few years older than your daughter so I can speak on the younger generation. Like I said most younger people are more accepting in general on alot of issues but there are plenty that aren't. Your daughter has just been lucky enough not to come across those certain young bw that would give her a hard time.

I agree with you on this. In general I find that people under 30 are far more accepting and tolerant than people my age (41) and above. I'm equally certain that there are BW, WW, WM, and BM who disapprove of BM dating WW, she has been fortunate to not run into a lot of those people outside of her father's family, and she just accepts that they're ignorant and ignores them. In general I find people in our area don't have much to say on the subject of IR relationships. I realize that I'm in a part of the country that has a reputation for being very redneck and backwoods, but really IR is very common here and neither she nor I have ever had a negative encounter with anyone. But I do realize that's not the case everywhere.
