Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has left fans dumbfounded after taking to the stage at a gig in Singapore and accusing U.S. President Barack Obama of using last month’s Colorado cinema massacre and a recent shoot-out at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin to push through a nationwide gun ban back home.

The heavy rocker aimed his angry rant at the leader last week, telling fans he believed Obama was “staging” the murders.

In video footage obtained by TMZ.com, Mustaine said, “Back in my country, my president... he’s trying to pass a gun ban, so he’s staging all of these murders... Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there... and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple.”

And he didn’t stop there - the rocker also revealed he was considering a move to Singapore, adding, “I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.”

Megadeth has been my all-time favorite band since the mid-80s. There is something about their music that just releases all of this stress out of me.

I love Dave Mustaine. I think he's a brilliant, brilliant guitarist and lyricist. His songs, if you really listen to them, are amazing in so many ways.

He'd been a hard-core Democrat for so many years and then he got sober and found religion and became born-again and now he's a hard-core Republican.

Growing up listening to his lyrics, it's been very hard for me to wrap my brain around his complete 180 in that regard.

What he said in that video was completely asinine. He never should have said it. He's a very, very smart guy, and for him to say that, it just boggles my mind. So stupid for him to say those things. So incredibly stupid. Ugh.

The President of Singapore has the power to designate certain security areas. Any person caught in the possession or with someone in possession of firearms, ammunition or explosives in a security area can be punished by death.


Arms Offences Act

The Arms Offences Act regulates firearms offences.[17] Any person who uses or attempts to use arms (Section 4) can face execution, as well as any person who uses or attempts to use arms to commit scheduled offences (Section 4A). These scheduled offences are being a member of an unlawful assembly; rioting; certain offences against the person; abduction or kidnapping; extortion; burglary; robbery; preventing or resisting arrest; vandalism; mischief. Any person who is an accomplice (Section 5) to a person convicted of arms use during a scheduled offence can likewise be executed.

Trafficking in arms (Section 6) is a capital offence in Singapore. Under the Arms Offences Act, trafficking is defined as being in unlawful possession of more than two firearms.
