Jane Elliot, a former teacher and anti-racism activist and LGBT activist, is considered a controversial figure. Why? She's known for her Blue-eyed/Brown-eyed Experiment, in which she separates the brown-eyed people from the blue-eyed people and exercise a harsh reality towards the blue-eyed people. The purpose? She wants to show how discrimination works to a privileged group and in turn, hope that they carry that experience with them. Her methods are considered cruel, but anyone who has experienced discrimination would note that the people who would cry afoul are the same ones who never truly understood what discrimination is like on the sole basis of what you look like, however minute the difference is on a genetic level. That being said, I decided to create a thread in tribute to the remarkable work Jane Elliot has done and in hopes that more people can carry out her legacy.
